While they all use similar TCP/IP technology, the access to internal and external users differs in each type of network. On the internet, anyone using the web from any location has access to the resources. An intranet limits access to resources to authorized users, usually in the same organization. On an extranet, authorized external users are allowed access to use the network applications of the organization. Most organizations use each of these types of networks."
