You may work as part of a team for various engineering projects. What makes a team function successfully, in your opinion?

Your answer to this question lets the employer know if their team environment might be the right one for you. Your answer can help them measure your idea of successful teamwork against their own company culture. Consider discussing a recent example and maintain a positive attitude when speaking about your previous employer and teammates.

"Successful teams need a strong leader who is willing to provide as much or as little leadership as the team requires. In my last internship, I worked on an efficient, successful team that had an experienced and caring project manager. She checked in with our team and with individuals on a bi-weekly basis. She trusted us but also wanted us to learn as much as we could. We all felt invested in the project because leadership showed their own investment."
