While it may be inevitable, companies want to hire people with strong conflict resolution skills to resolve issues quickly. Demonstrate that you can successfully diffuse a situation by speaking directly with the colleague, listening to their side of the situation, and coming up with a compromise both parties can agree on.

Most conflicts are a matter of miscommunication, so speaking face to face with the colleague would be my first move. I'd listen to understand their perspective and then share my perspective, as well. I would work with them to come up with a solution, apologize for the confusion and miscommunication, and then work to repair that relationship by moving on and continuing to act professionally."
