Take this question as an opportunity to share your passion for oral health. In sharing what you like most about your role as a dental hygienist, emphasize the benefit you bring to the practice and the profession. If you focus on something that is personally rewarding, be sure to mention how that positively motivates your performance.
"As a dental hygienist, I like seeing improvement in patients that have been diagnosed with gingivitis or periodontitis, and patients that previously demonstrated a lack of oral hygiene. It is a great feeling when a patient returns for a recall or periodontal maintenance appointment and I can clinically see the positive result of their improved home care. I feel like I am making a positive contribution to their quality of life, and setting the patient up for success in the future."
"I like that I am able to provide high-quality oral healthcare to a diverse patient population. I enjoy getting to know my patients, and hearing where they are from. Although treatment might be similar, no two patients are the same, and I enjoy the variety and uniqueness of each appointment."
