We all have weaknesses, and that is an expected reality. However, the Admissions Committee at Columbia University wants to know that your biggest weakness will not impact your ability to succeed as a student attending the College of Dental Medicine. The Admissions Committee would also like evidence that you are self-aware and can readily identify areas for personal improvement.
Talk about a weakness that is not a core skill required to succeed as a dental program student. Be honest when you answer, recognizing that although you may not be great at something, you acknowledge the need to improve. Show the decision-makers that you have an action plan to improve this weakness.

"I would like to improve my verbal skills. I have excellent listening skills, but when it comes to communicating verbally, I sometimes find myself lacking confidence. I have been improving my skills by hiring a confidence coach and stepping outside my comfort zone to start conversations with strangers. I have also sought advice from family, friends, and my superiors at work. Through these exercises, I have improved my confidence and ability to interact with others verbally.
