"My grandfather has been the greatest inspiration in my life. I was orphaned at four, and he raised me single-handedly after my grandmother died. He always worked hard to support me, and he believed in me. When I told other family members I wanted to become a neurosurgeon, they all scoffed at me as no one in my family had ever graduated from high school, much less medical school. My grandfather was the only one who believed I could do it, and he supported me every step of the way."
