"A 'double-blind' trial is a clinical trial in which neither patients nor the study staff knows which participants are receiving the experimental drug and which are receiving a placebo or standard treatment. The benefit of this type of trial is that it prevents bias when doctors are evaluating patients throughout the trial. In my previous role, I supported a mix of trials, and double-blind trials made up about 25% of the projects I was on."
