It's important for social media marketers to actually use their platforms in their own time. The cultures of the various platforms are relatively organic and unique, and it takes a good amount of time interacting as a user on these platforms to really grasp what the interactions feel like. In any case, I wouldn't hire an auto mechanic who doesn't own a car, so I certainly wouldn't hire a social media marketer who doesn't use Facebook.
