The interviewer wants to hear what motivated you to become an Optician. It might be that you were looking to start a career in a relatively short amount of time after graduating high school, you may have had a guidance counselor in school that encouraged you, or you have a friend or family member who is in the field of optometry. Tell your personal story about why you chose to become an Optician.

"I chose to pursue a career as an Optician after learning about the industry at a high school job fair. An optometry group had an eyeglass display and a lensometer. They showed me how the machine works and explained the career path to becoming an Optician. It seemed like a fun career to pursue, and I liked that in two years or less, I could be a licensed Optician."
