Even if you have yet to work at a library, surely you have great ideas for programs that could be implemented through the community library. Share a few ideas with the interviewer so they clearly see your passion and excitement for the role. Be sure to get familiar with current programs the library already offers and maybe look for gaps in their offerings. Consider what kind of programs would benefit the greater community and serve as many people as possible.

"I know that you already offer a fun summer reading program for elementary-aged kids. I know this program has been widely successful, especially with the local schools promoting it. A successful program that I have implemented for middle school aged students is Battle of the Books. It is essentially a team-based competition that encourages reading for an older age group. Students form small teams, read as much as they can from a list of books, and compete against other teams in answering questions about the books. I think a library should offer something for everyone, and this is a wonderful, age-appropriate program that middle school students really enjoy."
