The interviewer would like to hear about a time that you led a team, with a positive outcome. Highlight for the interviewer the primary factors that made your leadership style a success. Your example could come from the workplace or perhaps a time when you led a group project during your post-secondary studies.

"Just last month I was asked to lead our day shift employees when my boss was away on sick leave. I took charge for two weeks and the experience was quite positive! I believe the biggest success factor was that I tried to emulate his leadership style and did ask his help when I wasn't sure what to do. I feel this experience really prepared me for a leadership role. I am excited to take on a team lead role again."

I was in charge of a group project during college. I took into consideration everything my teammates wanted to include, and I pieced everything together. I asked how everyone felt before and after the presentation. I received excellent feedback from both my teammates and my professor. The factor that made everything great was me asking for everyone's input and not just using my ideas and taking all the credit.

Good example and a great start! For this 'Tell me about a time...' question, I recommend sticking with the STAR framework (Situation, Task, Action, Result) and adding as much detail as possible. For instance, what class/project was this? Were you the team lead? What other specific actions did you take to ensure a successful project? Overall, what was the result (ie: grade?).
Prepare for oral boards and scenario-based questions that agencies use to evaluate recruits.
