Here is an excerpt from a message from their Dean: "Transforming Oral Healthcare Since 1863. Imagine being a member of a dental school that was founded during the Civil War, when America was engulfed in a fight to ensure it was a place of equality for all humans, regardless of the color of their skin. A country where everyone had equal opportunity to develop and live, and where all were treated equally by all institutions. While we have made significant strides toward these goals, we unfortunately still have a long way to go. Today, the Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry at Temple University is located in a dynamic urban community that is at the heart of dental and societal needs. We serve the underserved, care for those who have limited access, and provide all dental care needs at one location. Our school is blessed with thousands of patients who continue to come in larger numbers, and students whose numbers are increasing."
Throughout the interview, they'll want to understand why you chose to apply to their school. Not only are your interviewers looking for evidence that you plan to make a positive and lasting impact on the dental profession, but they want to see how closely your ideals align with theirs. To provide a memorable response, be as specific as possible. Discuss with passion and enthusiasm how you plan to improve the dental profession and use your skills for the greater good.

"I have chosen to become a dentist because of the broad impact I can make on my patients, their families, and my community. Being a dentist is a career where I can impact others by getting to know my patients on a closer level than most healthcare providers can. I say this because the mouth and the state of a person's mouth have an incredible influence on their confidence level. The mouth also impacts many health aspects, including how and what someone eats and drinks, their sleep quality, and even how they talk. As a dentist, I will improve the profession by bringing this whole-health knowledge and mindset to my patients. When my patients feel motivated and empowered to take their entire health into their hands, it will create a trickle-down effect on other aspects of their lives, including their family members' well-being. This ripple will help create greater respect for oral health care, improving how the public views our profession and how often a patient visits the dentist."
