QUESTION 3 OF 31

We expect someone with strong leadership skills to take this role. How would you describe your management style?

Before your interview, reflect on what makes you stand out as a leader and how you plan to bring these skills to a new role with BlackRock. Even if you aren't applying for a managerial role, you should demonstrate to your interviewer that you have the qualities of a good leader and the propensity to work your way up in your career. BlackRock is known for its collaborative company culture and consistently wins workplace awards for being one of the best companies to work at. "Here at BlackRock, we aim to foster leadership at all levels. We know that a critical driver of our future growth is our ability to grow strong leaders."

"I promote a team-based atmosphere by clarifying everyone's role on the team, keeping every person's objectives clear, rewarding great performers on the team, and holding people accountable for their actions. In my previous role as a product manager at (XYZ) company, I directly managed a team of four interns. I worked to make myself accessible, provided positive feedback regularly, and sat down with each intern biweekly to measure their progress toward their goals. I wasn't afraid to speak with interns directly when I saw room for improvement. I enjoyed this management position and hope to use the communication and leadership skills I honed to progress into a management position at BlackRock if hired for this role."

"I think a leader must be flexible in their style rather than rely on just one of the canned management styles. I strive to help my team achieve their career goals and pride myself as a leader who can provide direction and authority when needed. By knowing my team well and promoting our goals, I can assign work to the right people and follow through with my team on meeting all our objectives."

"I would say that my leadership style is a hybrid of a coaching leadership style and a transformational leadership style."
