This depends. I performed differently under pressure in OR and under pressure in research or publication activity. In OR I just breathe and stay calm since I discovered that getting mad, angry, or frustrated only makes things more complicated.
In research or publication activity, deadlines allow me to perform at my best, I focused like I never can in the 72 hours before a deadline.

I feel that my experiences as a general surgery resident have prepared me well for the pressures I will ensure as a surgical oncology fellow. I have developed great organization and time management skills that allow me to remain focused while at work, as well as an excellent work-life balance that allows me to utilize my free time to de-stress and live a healthy lifestyle. My senior residents and mentors have assisted me in developing these skills and I plan only to strengthen them moving forward.
