"If you use compute, a full-table scan or FTS will be performed. Only 10% of the table will be read and analyzed when using estimate. The full-table scan will take longer but will be more accurate. The estimate will only take a brief amount of time but lacks accuracy. Which one you use is based on how the statistics will be used and what level of accuracy the user is expecting."
