Perhaps you have a loved one with dementia, enjoy working with the senior population, or are a compassionate individual who wants to provide a safe environment while promoting dignity and self-worth in your patients. "I chose to work with patients with dementia after working as a server at a retirement home. My grandparents lived at the facility and told me about the opening when it became available. I was hired for that job in high school and knew I wanted to pursue a career in the medical field. After enjoying working with the senior population and learning about their life experiences, I knew I wanted to work in geriatrics. When my grandmother started showing the early signs of dementia and progressing to Alzheimer's, I decided this was the career path I was meant to take."
