QUESTION 5 OF 35

At KBR we put the safety of our employees first. How familiar are you when it comes to construction safety standards?

"I admire the fact that KBR, Inc. puts the safety of their employees first. I am very immersed in the current safety standards for the engineering and construction industry. I do have a recent certification in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and am committed to applying that knowledge to a position with KBR, Inc.. If there are additional pieces of training and certifications that you would like to see, I am happy to comply."

"I believe that safety on site is incredibly important and, for that reason, I am eager to take any safety courses that you recommend. At this point, I have taken coursework in fatigue management, reporting, safe lifting, alcohol and drug awareness, and PPE guidelines."

Consider any safety regulation training or knowledge you have and how long you've worked with these standards. Also, review the job description in detail to look for safety requirements or protocols. If there are any you're unfamiliar with, take the time to briefly research them in preparation for any related interview questions.

Focus first on convincing your interviewer that you understand safety construction standards and regulations. Next, demonstrate that you put safety first and are fully prepared to comply with any and all safety protocols at KBR. If you're new to this area, mention any research you've done and let your interviewer know you are willing to do whatever is required to gain the knowledge needed.

Anonymous Answer

The health and safety requirements in the workplace are important as the construction site is considered a dangerous place so health and safety requirements must be taken into consideration. The requirements vary based on the workplace complexity; however, the basics are wearing (PPE) such as safety glasses, boots, and special hats. Watching an induction video is necessary.

Marcie's Feedback

Great! Wearing protective gear and watching instructional videos both sound like good ideas when it comes to the basics of construction safety standards. Do you have any personal experience in this area that you could mention as well? If not, you might also discuss how you would check with your manager before any job to ensure that you're fully familiarized with the expected safety standards.
