Every manager has a different approach to giving feedback. Some prefer to save it for the performance review while others dish it out on the regular. Your response to feedback is much more important than the input itself. Even if it was negative, if you can take it as constructive criticism, you can improve yourself and your skills.
"My previous manager told me that I was spending too much time on the details of a project. I realized that I could be such a perfectionist that I lose track of time and hyper-focus on things that aren't that important. The majority of the feedback I was given was positive, which was good, but I also liked getting honest negative feedback because it gave me something to work on, the feedback was given pretty rarely though, which I believe isn't a good thing. Regular feedback allows for greater improvements.
