Many preventive medicine residency programs in the United States require applicants to have completed at least one year (PGY-1) of postgraduate clinical training within a residency program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). The interviewers ask this question to see if you meet their requirements and understand what interests you in medicine.
