What is your opinion on socialized health care versus privatized health care?

"I believe that the basic concepts of socialized health care and privatized health care are good by nature and speak to a range of patients. Some of my peers have expressed their love for socialized health care because, although they pay a higher tax rate, they are not caught in an expensive whirlwind when they face illness. On the other hand, privatized health care can offer significantly shorter wait times, which is very crucial for those with a potentially critical or debilitating illness. I believe it is important to have options for both so people can choose."

Avoiding offensive statements will be the first key to answering this question. It's best if you can provide a diplomatic answer that gives the nod to both sides without appearing wishy-washy. As a future physician, you will work with some patients who are insured through their private plans and some on Medicare/Medicaid, and your job as a physician shouldn't be biased toward those different patients.
