Tell me about a time you navigated a conflict successfully. How did you respond and what was the outcome?

"In my last role, I was asked to mentor an employee who was on the verge of being let go. When the other employee was told that I would be mentoring them, they were not happy to now be under someone's watch. I spoke with the employee like a friend and convinced them that we would work well together and both improve from each other. We agreed to give constructive feedback to each other as accountability partners and on our next performance review, we both had improved scores and increased confidence in the workplace."
