"While I can't say I always pictured myself in fashion, I've spent the last two years at Company ABC and have really loved the opportunity to work in the fashion industry. I love that I'm able to work with new collections each season and that things are ever-changing."

"What I love about Primark is that you're committed to the growth of your employees. Between the training incentives you offer to your employees to looking within before searching outside to fill positions, I feel I could achieve my goal of becoming a Marketing Director. I would take advantage of some of the training and classes you offer, and hopefully, find a mentor in my supervisors to help gain the skills I need to get to that point in the next few years."

"I'm lucky in that I've worked with some of the best people. I have several references I can provide that would describe me as someone who takes the initiative, doesn't back down from a challenging situation, and works hard to meet deadlines or help out other team members when they need it."

Tell me about yourself.

"I'm a super creative and organizational person, which is why I love working in marketing and fashion so much. I completed my Communications degree at ASU five years ago, and since then, I've been working hard to grow my marketing skills. I've gone from a marketing coordinator to a Social Media Manager within that time. Now, I'm looking for the next step that will really help me elevate my marketing skills and grow in a company like Primark."

Tell me about your greatest work related accomplishment.

"In my last role, I was in charge of content management and development. I scaled a content team for two people to a team of 15 content writers and editors. Altogether, we developed over 1,200 pieces of unique content over the year and a half I was in that role. I'm incredibly proud of the world we did and know that I could scale teams and build strategic processes for Primark's marketing team as well."

How do you stay on top of trends in the fashion industry?

"I stay on top of trends through reading high fashion magazines and browsing sites like Pinterest and Instagram. I also follow a few design houses and fashion bloggers on a variety of social media platforms."

Fashion is always changing, and trends change faster than any other industry. Talk to the interviewer about how you stay in tune with new and top trends.

"My favorite place to stay on top of fashion trends is Instagram. I follow a multitude of trendsetters, designers, and stylists. I find it easy and fast to scroll through the feed and see what others are wearing and talking about."

At Primark we are all about what's trending in fashion. In your opinion, what do you think will be the biggest fashion trend for next spring?

"I frequent several fashion magazines and have noticed that counter-culture trends are on the rise and graphic t-shirts are definitely making a come back. I think it's fascinating to see how Gen Z is influencing where fashion is going."

Nearly every Primark job description mentions a need for someone with eyes on the upcoming trends and trends of the past. This is your opportunity to let them know how you find your trends and what caught your eye.

"I admire that Primark is always a step ahead of the trends, and definitely noticed with one of the most recent releases that you're moving into the casual, active space. While that trend has been on the rise for a while, it's taking an interesting turn with vibrant colors, baggier fits, and cozy vibes. I see those looks popping up more and more as we head into Winter."

What fashion brands have always caught your attention and why?

"When it comes to value fashion, I've always been really impressed with Target brands and collaborations. For instance, their Who What Wear brand is great for working women on a budget and I love the way they market that to their audience with unique seasonal styles."

Having knowledge of the fashion industry is of utmost importance when applying for Primark. They are keen to hear people with their eyes on the trends and understanding of their competitors. Use this as an opportunity to call out the fashion brands you know and love, and tell the hiring manager what you think they're doing right.

"I am most attracted to the classic labels like Hermes and Balenciaga. They are true luxury brands that know their audience and where to place their ads. You usually see their ads in upscale malls, luxury hotels, and of course, in publications like Vogue and Town & Country."

At Primark we aim to combined fashion with value. How do you incorporate value brands into your style?

"One of my favorite ways to incorporate value brand fashion is to value brands, like one of Primark's jean jackets, with higher-end brands like Ralph Lauren jeans. I buy my staples from some of the higher-end brands and my seasonal favorites from the value brands."

Even when you're working behind the scenes in marketing, having a passion for fashion and understanding the brand is important when you are called into an interview. Be sure to showcase your knowledge of the company by mentioning styles or brands they sell, in addition to other fashion brands you frequently buy.

"I think it's important for everyone to have their own personal style and wear what they feel most comfortable in. If I could describe my personal style, I would say it's ladylike with a touch of bohemian. My style icons include Kate Middleton and the Olsens. But since I don't have their bank account, I often shop for my looks at value brands like Primark."

In your opinion, which of Primark's recent fashion campaigns has been the most compelling>

"One of my favorite Primark campaigns is the most recent collaboration with Space Jam. From the merch, the unique t-shirts, and counter-culture sweatshirts, to the social media campaign and content created around the merch, it was incredibly eye-catching and compelling."

When interviewing for marketing positions, the hiring manager will want to know that you've done your research and already know what marketing campaigns and tools they currently use. Before going into your interview, take a look back through their press releases and social media channels to understand past campaigns.

"I've had the opportunity to take a look at your various social media campaigns, and I have to say, I love the way you encouraged your Tik Tok followers to make their own unique video for the Space Jam campaign. It was the perfect way to get them engaged and excited, as well as organically spreading the word about the new collection."

Do you have any post-secondary education related to the fashion industry that could benefit your role at Primark?

"At Company ABC, we work on very high pressured campaigns, in many cases not even having the ability to plan out a roadmap. While I'm used to this environment, I've developed some tools to help me shake it off and not get caught up in the pressure. I take Yoga a few times a week and find that journaling really helps me keep my mind in the here and now. "

"Although I have not completed a post-secondary degree, I have completed a certificate in Social Media Marketing and have used many of those skills in my current role at Company ABC. This knowledge is transferable to any industry, including fashion. I believe I can build successful campaigns using my previous experience and knowledge of fashion."

"I rate my communication skills as a 9/10. I'd be surprised if anyone were a perfect 10 all the time, as I do know there are times when I'm not as clear as I could be. However, I'm used to dealing with different personalities and project managing a team, and feel that my communication is generally clear and specific."

"As a content manager at a small start-up, I noticed that our SEO performed better if we had consistent articles and blogs releasing on the site monthly. However, as a small company, we didn't have the capacity to release that often. I noticed a talent for writing in the marketing coordinator and suggested that she move over to the growth team. She could continue to help coordinate things for the marketing team, but she could also step into an entry-level content writing role. I brought this up to my supervisor and successfully promoted her to my team, which helped with our content KPIs."

When it comes to leadership roles at Primark, they're looking for employees that take the initiative to implement change and make things better for the company as a whole. Describe a time when you saw a need for change in one of your roles and the steps you took to implement that change successfully.

"This a little thing, but I think it made a big difference. As a manager, I'm invested in my employees and want them to be successful. I saw that the company had little to offer around continued education and spoke to HR about offering monthly courses to employees looking to gain additional skills. I see that this is already a benefit at Primark, and that's one of the reasons the company really stands out to me. "

"I am happy to make myself available for work most times, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. I do have an evening course for the next 8 weeks on Thursdays; however, that is the only restriction currently on my schedule."

"I have a few restrictions in my schedule; however, I am happy to accommodate most days. I am unavailable to work on weekends, but I believe you are closed on weekends anyways from my research. Could you share with me the hours expectations for this position?"

"Working at start-ups with small teams, I'm used to having big workloads and short deadlines. I'm a very organized person and tend to use my own checklists and project management tools, like Asana, to stay on task. I also make sure I understand the priority of each task that is assigned to me, so I can organize my task list based on what is most important at the moment."

"I started my marketing career as an assistant to the CEO of a small branding company. He had a powerful personality and liked things done in particular ways. Though it was tough initially, it was a great way to learn how to deal with people when they get hot-headed and learn effective communication skills. I find that remaining calm, explaining the situation, and course-correcting are effective ways to deal with difficult people."

Like with any company, there's always a chance you'll come up against difficult personalities in your position with Primark. They want to know that you can adapt and communicate successfully with these types of personalities. Give an example of a time where you had to complete your task with the added pressure of a tough personality.

"I once worked with a peer who was very difficult in meetings and with interacting in groups of others. I took it upon myself to help this person interact better with others. When she would bark orders, I would reiterate what she was trying to say to the group more professionally. It took some time, but she learned to behave in a way that made people want to work with her."

At Primark, we're growing fast and that tends to bring change. How have you had to adapt to change?

"I currently work in a marketing role at a start-up company. A few months ago, we launched a new product with just a few month's lead time. Similar to Primark, it's growing quickly, and we're always adapting to our audience and reviewing what works and what doesn't. I was able to switch directions, create a plan, and successfully launch the marketing direction for the new product."

"As with most start-up companies, turnover is pretty normal. I've had to step into several different management roles in the interim to help out in my current role. "Based on our conversation, I understand that Primark is in a state of high growth, opening new locations across the globe. Since one of your immediate needs is a cohesive social media strategy for the new collection, I would dive into that collection to get to know and begin brainstorming some initial thoughts for the plan. Of course, I'd also want to jump in and learn as much as possible about the brand voice and analytics behind in previous successful campaigns to get a sense of what works best for the Primark audience."

During the interview process, you should have a sense of what your immediate responsibilities would be. Including training, list some of the steps you would take to start checking those tasks off your list.

"My first step would be to study your brand guidelines and start training on your tools, of course. But after that, since you need to improve your engagement with email marketing, I'd begin reviewing your messaging and making a note of where we could make changes and how we can increase engagement across both triggered and marketing emails."

At Primark, we are constantly growing and opening new locations, which means there's room for growth. Where would you like to see your career in the next 3-5 years?

"I realize this is an entry-level coordinator role that works across the department as a whole. In the next five years, I hope that I can move into a regional management role in the Boston office or one of the new US locations. "

"Ideally, 5 years from now, I would love to see myself growing into a more prominent leadership role at Primark and have the opportunity to make creative and strategic decisions at an executive level. I know there's so much expansion happening at Primark, and I believe that if I showcase my skills and meet my KPI's, that will be a possibility for me here."
