How do you prevent burnout and remain highly motivated?

"I was taught early on in my career that planning a project clearly, from start to finish, is a great way to prevent burnout and keep motivation high. When effort expectations are set forth right away, this minimizes my stress and keeps me moving at a manageable pace."

Working in the tech industry means a lot of hours, and rarely turning your brain off due to a fast-pace and high expectations. Talk to the interviewer about your ability to remain motivated, even if you are asked to work a lot. Discuss how you make sure that you are not burning out on the job.

"This is a great question. I think the right answer is, 'of course, but not for long'! We've all had those tough cases. A child dies, a patient yells at you, or you have to give someone a cancer diagnosis. Its professional to take a few minutes after an encounter like that and let those emotions come and go. I cope with these emotions by telling myself that it's not my story, its the patient's story. I think it's okay to be moved by someone else's experience, but I don't need to make it mine."

What software development tools have you used?

"I see that you mentioned Atom and Cloud 9 in your job posting, both of which I have approximately three years' experience. I have also worked with Linx, although I am a beginner level in that particular tool."

"The store where I currently work is a family run shop where they operated based on trust and didn't have a loss prevention plan. We were having some problems with theft because of it. I suggested that we install a couple of cameras inside the store to deter anyone from stealing. So far, we have seen a 56% decline in the overall loss."

What is the riskiest decision you have ever made in your career?

"The riskiest career choice I have made was asking for a reduction in hours, from full time to part time employment, to pursue my degree in Digital Marketing. My boss could have let me go, but he didn't. Rather, he openly supported my pursuit of higher education."

"Although I am aware of many of the email marketing platforms currently available, I have experience working with Drip and Constant Contact. Although Constant Contact is one of the most well-known platforms, I find that Drip offers more powerful intelligent tools that allow users to make more strategic communication decisions when it comes to segmentation and automation. "

"I developed enterprise applications for two of the largest data migration companies in the United States. During my tenure, at both companies, I supported their administration and HR departments. I was able to learn and apply differences in department applications quickly, without issue."

Through my experiences, I have learned ways to improve automation tools to better meet the communication needs of companies. I have gained much knowledge in using data analytics to improve email marketing automation processes and tools."

I will make recommendations based on resources and pricing, but also make suggestions on new ways in which we can be creative, like consolidating resources, to save cost when possible. "Through my previous two developer positions, I had the opportunity to learn and work on social media messaging tools. As a developer, I used client feedback to improve these tools and develop new capabilities. I was able to witness firsthand how marketers were able to target their marketing communications to the appropriate populations, thereby allowing for a higher return on their marketing spends. Some issues I have dealt with in the troubleshooting phase of development include the collection of data from these social media messaging apps."

This required me to stay abreast of changing trends in the Online Marketing industry."

When I saw this requirement on your job posting, I knew that I met that basic requirement, but I want to do better than basic. For that reason, I have enrolled in an online course called 'Linux Advance.' I am excited to strengthen my skills in this area."

There are many ways to ask 'what is your greatest weakness'; however, the interviewers at MailChimp will always have a more thought-provoking way of asking this question. Before your interview, comb through the job posting and pick out a skill where you have room for improvement. Then, discuss what you could do to strengthen that particular skill.

"I was working in a clinic where the primary population was low income. We had a lot of concerns with patients not showing up for appointments when expected. The staff wanted to start double-booking patient time slots. Instead, I got permission to spend a day in a highly-rated clinic serving the same population. Instead of scheduling, they had these 'drop-in mornings' with a common waiting room. I took these methods and incorporated them into our setting. We did that twice a week, and it completely solved our scheduling problem."

What types of online marketing tools have you had experience with from the developer side?

"As a developer, I have had experience working with tools that allow marketers to send emails to customers and prospects with high delivery rates while tracking the essential data to measure the effectiveness of email marketing campaigns. In addition, I have helped to develop and troubleshoot graphic design tools that allow marketers to create display ads in a quick and cost efficient way."

"I have a lot of energy, so I like to bring out my creative side on the weekends by attending local art events, going to the theater, or trying a new paint and sip class. I look forward to bringing this creative energy to MailChimp."

I'm finally getting old enough to realize that its difficult to be constantly adapting. I think my 75-year-old aunt telling me how to use my iPhone helped me appreciate that it's all about humility. Not WHO is teaching you, but if you are willing to learn. In the medical context, I just took an updated CPR course, and it went from the 2:15 compressions to continuous compressions and I had to adapt to avoid my past way of thinking."

Would you consider yourself a creative person?

"I am someone who alternates back and forth with the right/left brain, but I will always consider myself a very creative person. I admire the creativity and unconventional thinking in IT, business, and digital social movements."

Talk to the interviewer about any interest that you have in creative activities and how you have implemented your creative desires in the workplace. "Yes. I used to do this in my former position. I was responsible for maintaining supplies on the general surgery ward for five years. It was great at working behind the scenes with the result being efficiency for others."

"I believe artificial intelligence helps companies make informed decisions more quickly. It also allows companies to mimic human interaction online, thereby making it more likely to create a personal connection with customers in a cost efficient manner. I have experience implementing artificial intelligence into chatbots for a large e-commerce company. Our team used large data sets to develop algorithms used by chatbots to address customer service issues online. The development was an ongoing process of adjusting algorithms to ensure customer communications effectively and efficiently addressed the issues."

"Without a reliable connection between a company's customer data and its email marketing platform, customer emails would be significantly less impactful. However, it is important to understand that it is important that there is a two-way connection between a company's databases and the platform as data should be fed back into a database storing data such as open rates and click-through rates. I have experience working with database connections in both situations, ensuring data is correctly transferred and stored in databases. My experience includes troubleshooting issues that lead to incorrect personalization of emails and corrupt data being transferred back to the company."

"There are many ways companies market their products and services online. I believe some of the more frequently used methods include email marketing and social media. Email marketing provides a great way for companies to send information rich content and offers directly to customers and prospects. However, email recipients can easily unsubscribe or sometimes sending too many emails may anger the recipient. Another method is through social media channels such as Facebook and Instagram. These avenues allow for targeting based on demographics and interests. However, sometimes social media channels may be cost prohibitive for some smaller companies."
