"The greatest accomplishment in my career was graduating from college as an honors student while still working full time in a related field. I was top of my class, and working full time. This showed me that I am able to dedicate myself to my career, and reach the goals that I set for myself. It felt great to accomplish so much and be recognized for my dedication."

Talking about your greatest accomplishment will give the interviewer a strong idea of where you place your values. It will also show the interviewer more about your personality, how you like to be motivated, and how to coach you in the future. It is okay to brag a little bit when answering this question. Show that you are proud of yourself and your career accomplishments!

"I have many accomplishments that I am very proud of. Overall, I would say that my greatest work accomplishment is the positive reputation that I have in this industry."

"I have many accomplishments that I am very proud of. One of them is when I started to work for a retail company. I was alone in the department. My manager and I together created the Information Security Department and selected the people who would join my team. I did interviews with them. Then, I led team members according to their skills, interests, and abilities. They are still working for the company and they are definitely successful. One of my biggest accomplishments is getting a job in a bank in Poland and being successful in a short period of time. It was challenging for me. I had moved from Turkey, and I hadn't worked in an international company till then. I got used to working with people from different cultures, different languages, etc. Overall, I would say that my greatest work accomplishment is the positive reputation that I have in the industry."

How do you feel about the H&M Incentive Program?

"I feel that, in general, performance incentives are a great idea. They keep an employee motivated to do a great job and ensure that they are on top of their KPI's. The majority of people are very enthused about being rewarded for their successes. Specifically, I find the H&M program energizing; I love that H&M recognizes the importance of incentivizing its team members to stay and contribute their best work toward H&M's success."

Performance incentives can be very motivating. Talk to the interviewer about your feelings re: performance incentives.

"I think performance incentives are important for driving people to get results. For me, personally, they give me some skin in the game and get my team engaged in making an impact towards the results. I'm encouraged that H&M's aim is to encourage and reward its employees' everyday commitment and long-term involvement. The longer employees stay with H&M, the more incentives they are eligible to receive, which is a very strong motivator."

"During our personal life, we define long-term and short-term goals. To accomplish them, we wake up with excitement. Goals keep us awake, energetic, curious, diligent, and enthusiastic. Similar to this, during our professional life, we define our end-of-year goals aligning with the company's strategy with our manager. Moving towards these goals keeps us proactive while doing our job. It is also important in terms of increasing the loyalty of both the team and ourselves to the company and acquiring long-term teammates."

"I would describe my personality as approachable, energetic, and positive. I would also classify myself as bold - I'm willing to take risks in order to achieve higher and better results, ultimately for the good of the company and the good of the consumer. I'm encouraged that H&M says it has built its workplace on trust, respect, inclusiveness and integrity, because I believe that kind of environment fits my personality well."

Personality and character are two very different things. The interviewer is looking for more information on your personal traits vs. your integrity. This would include buzzwords such as introverted, energetic, and confident.

"It may seem like an odd combination, but I would describe myself as both logical and imaginative. I'm imaginative in the sense that I'm always looking for new ways to approach consumer issues and new ideas to test out. And then I'm logical in the sense that I want experimentation, data and results to know for sure that what my imagination comes up with is truly feasible."

"I would describe myself as a self-motivated, amicable, and experience-driven person. I believe in learning from my past results and applying them in future experiments. My approach towards work usually involves primary research, breaking the problem statement into small problems, and then working towards developing a robust, simple and long-term solution."

"I am an active listener, active learner, creative, approachable, positive, logical and imaginative, good communicator, decision maker, and energetic. I listen carefully to people. I try to understand well their problems. I'm imaginative in the sense that I'm always looking for new ways to approach issues and new ideas to test out. Tell me about your most recent visit to an H&M store. What was your experience like?

"I can tell that your customer service employees receive a great deal of training in the H&M approach. I've always had a positive customer experience at any of your brands' stores. My last visit, I was having trouble finding a specific product. As soon as I came across a customer service employee, they knew what I was looking for and found it for me right away. I was impressed with how knowledgeable and friendly she was, and I would hope to emulate that, should I be hired."

The interviewer would like to know that you have shopped at an H&M store in the past and a brief overview of your customer service experience with them. Keep your reply positive and upbeat!

"During my last visit to an H&M store, I made a huge purchase. Once I arrived home, I realized that I had grabbed the wrong size of one of my favorite items. It was no problem for me to make the exchange later that week. Your staff was warm and accommodating, and that made me want to continue shopping that particular brand."

"It was my first visit to that particular store, and I was looking for a specific formal white footwear. I distinctly remember someone from store staff getting me that product in my size instead of just leading me there. I was impressed by the attitude and response. They were also aware of the product features which helped me decide quickly."

"One of my lovely experiences is that it's the only brand name that my 6-year-old daughter told me when she was 2.5 years old. When I go into any H&M store, I find all of my needs. I love the store's employee's behavior toward customers. When I moved to Poland, I installed the app and I realized that it is in Polish. But, I don't know Polish. I ask for help on each visit to the store. They are so patient."

H&M is a global corporation with brands and employees all over the world. What is your experience working with a diverse group of people?

"The global nature of the H&M business is one that I'm most excited about. I'm accustomed to being around people who aren't exactly like me, and I've been able to learn from exposure to a lot of different perspectives. However, I believe that truly being part of the global economy will be a life-changing experience that I will relish."

Are you accustomed to working with a very large or diverse team of individuals? Assure the interviewer that you are enthusiastic about and can handle an environment that offers diversity.

"In my current company, we have a very diverse group of people that range in age, race, experience, gender and more. I embrace it fully, and the commitment to all types of fashion expression, no matter what it looks like or where it's from, is one of my favorite aspects of the H&M family of brands."

This is a good opportunity to show your knowledge of the entire H&M family of brands. Do a little research before your interview to make sure you can speak knowledgeably about the breadth of the H&M portfolio.

At H&M, we always think of the consumer first. What are the top 3 ways that we can ensure consumer satisfaction?

"Consumer satisfaction first comes from offering value. The product must meet the needs of the consumer in a way that the customer feels is worth or even exceeds the price he/she paid. Second, consumer satisfaction stems from outstanding customer service - when a consumer has a question, can he or she quickly get a response that's helpful? And third would be anticipating consumer needs and being first to meet them in the marketplace - constantly testing products and learning as much as we can about our consumers' habits can help make sure we know what they need, sometimes even before they do."

When it comes to consumer goods, the satisfaction of the consumer is everything! These days with reviews online and the power of social media, how will you ensure that consumer satisfaction is a priority when working at H&M?

"There are many ways to ensure consumer satisfaction; however, I feel that the top three ways are through top-notch customer service, investment in research and development, and consistently providing a product that solves a specific need. Ultimately, our products need to make a difference in the lives of our consumers, our end users need to trust us when they have a question or need help regarding a product, and they need to be continually surprised with new products that continue to make their lives better."

"Ensuring Consumer satisfaction should always be at the heart of an organization. To achieve this, I believe special focus should be on 1. Constant innovation and improvements in terms of Hyper-personalized offering, product innovation, etc2. Quick resolution to queries to ensure great customer service3. "From what I've read, the H&M Spirit captures the way your team lives out its shared values. I find those values very compelling: one team; belief in people; entrepreneurial spirit; constant improvement; being cost-conscious; keeping it simple; and being straightforward and open-minded. These are all values I share and that have guided me on my career path, so I look forward to bringing them to bear for H&M."

The interviewer would like to get to know that you have a general idea of the H&M culture and how you see yourself within it. Make sure to do some research ahead of time so that you can speak, at least generally, about what makes the H&M culture unique.

"I love that H&M has such a clearly articulated set of values that are designed to guide the way team members carry out their work every day. Though individually, the values may seem obvious, when they join together, they create a sense of culture that is unique to H&M. The performance of consumer fashion products relies greatly on advertising and marketing efforts. Do you have any experience with advertising, marketing, or market research?

"I have always been fascinated with the correlation between marketing strategies and product performance. This is why I studied marketing and communication in college. I have a bachelor's degree in marketing, plus additional training in advertising methods from my current employer. I have seen creative and strategic marketing campaigns take an underperforming product and make it a strong contender in as short as 90 days. I look forward to putting my knowledge in marketing and advertising toward a role with H&M."

Talk to the interviewer about any experience you have in advertising and marketing, whether that be on the job training or formal education. Discuss how you have seen robust marketing strategies directly affect the performance of a product.

"Although I do not have formal training and education in advertising and marketing, I love to research new marketing techniques. I'm a strong writer, so I feel that I could put that skill to use in helping the organization communicate effectively with both internal and external audiences. On the consumer front, I also have a strong understanding of several social media algorithms, including how to have your posts seen by the right audience. I'd look forward to using that skill for the good of the organization, along with learning more about more traditional marketing, advertising and communications tactics."

"In an era of social influence and easy accessibility, Marketing and Advertising plays a vital role in product placement, performance, and brand awareness. Working with marketing team has made me realize the importance of marketing campaigns which have to be really sharp, innovative and personalized giving a sense of association to the customers."

"Yes, I do. I have worked on various social media platforms and email marketing platforms like constant contact. Most recently, I executed a marketing campaign for a footwear brand to gain more attraction and engagement with consumers. Market research has always set a stepping stone for every client to enter the market, and its importance to the business is understated."

What career path interests you the most within H&M?

"What interests me most about your company is that there are so many options when it comes to career growth. Ideally, I would like to earn my way into a Territory Sales role, then a Regional Manager position. Eventually, a Director of Sales or Marketing position would be ideal. Of course, I understand that this will take many years of dedication and hard work."

This is where it is really important to have completed some research on the interviewing company. Be sure to envision where you can see yourself fitting, and growing, with the organization prior to your interview. Do some research on what a career path could look like with this particular company.

"I am interested in a variety of paths with your company. I love that your team members are encouraged to develop within their roles, or to move on to new roles and responsibilities in different parts of the organization, across any of the H&M brands. I could absolutely see myself working in your sales and marketing department as I further my knowledge on your product and collections."

Do you see yourself as a leader? When have you led a team?

"In my current position, I am the president of the social committee. I love that I have the opportunity to encourage employee engagement while being a positive influence on the workplace culture. I am a natural leader because I start with leading by example. As a leader, I make myself available to others who need mentorship, a bit of assistance in adjusting to their role, or just a listening ear when they've had a tough day. I am confident in my leadership abilities and look forward to joining your team in a leadership role."

Perhaps you have led a club at work, been a coach for a youth sports team, or were on the advisory board for a non-profit organization. You should always be prepared to show the interviewer that you have a natural ability to lead others. Whether you have led a group of 500 or a team of 2, you must display to the interviewer that you are capable of handling the responsibility that comes with being a leader and mentor. Talk about your desire to be a leader. Share with the interviewer that you strive to be a role model for others. Explain that you jump at the opportunity to lead groups, encourage your counterparts, and be a face of the organization when challenges arise.

"I definitely see myself as a leader. Not only have I managed a team in two prior roles, but also I believe that leadership does not always equate to management. Leadership is more of a mindset than a title or specific position. I am sure to lead at all times by providing the best model, enthusiasm and work ethic of the organization. I am open to new ideas and love to tackle a new project which, to me, embodies leadership."

"I am currently working as an Online revenue manager leading a team of 4 members. My team has developed a culture of cross-functional learning and empowering each other. We frequently sit together and brain-storm on the current projects, share ideas and create an action plan. At H&M, we pride ourselves on being resourceful. When have you been able to resolve a problem in your workplace?

"In my most recent position we had a consistent problem with employees showing up late for their shifts or calling in sick at the last minute. Rather than the typical documenting and reprimanding style, I decided to track the results of an accountability reward system. For 180 days, my employees received a reward for coming to work 10 minutes early. Also, for every month with zero sick days, a bonus was added. In the end, we awarded those with perfect attendance a $600 bonus. The bonuses cost us less money than the cost of lowered productivity due to absent employees. The program was a success, and upper management chose to keep it implemented for another six months. We will re-assess at the end of the fiscal year, but it seems to be working very well. If I were to be hired, I'd bring that same sense of problem-solving and positive reinforcement to the H&M team."

Problem-solving and dispute resolution are fundamental skills to possess. Display to H&M that you are capable of problem-solving within the workplace.

"Currently as assistant manager, I resolve problems on a daily basis. The most recent resolution process I was a part of included a customer complaint about an allergic reaction to one of our products. I was able to resolve her concern by listening to her, apologizing, issuing a refund, and offering a replacement product. I am no stranger to dispute resolution, problem-solving, and creative customer service, and I believe my approach would be in-line with the energetic and resourceful approach H&M espouses."

"When I joined my current organization, I could see a rift between Digital marketing and Creative team. Since we were all working towards achieving one goal, I had to fill-in that gap. I understood due to the nature of work, multiple last minute requests were given by Digital team to Creative team. Hence I came up with an idea of maintaining a bank which could be used as backup in such situations and thereafter, both teams have catch-up meeting biweekly to ensure better communication."

At H&M, we pride ourselves on being nimble and able to adapt to changes within a complex business environment. Tell me about a time when you have had to shift your priorities in response to sudden changes.

"In my current role, our sales goals can change frequently based on marketplace behavior or trends, and sometimes this happens at the last minute. I have been able to adapt very well to these frequent, sudden changes, and to respond with creativity."

The interviewer has given you a clue - H&M wants its employees to be nimble. Assure the interviewer that you can respond professionally when it comes to sudden changes. Be as specific as you can, but below are some examples to guide your thinking:

"This really speaks to the heart of what it means to be successful in the consumer marketplace. I believe in making sound plans, but also being prepared to abandon those plans based on last-minute changes in circumstances. For example, I may plan to spend an afternoon checking inventory, but if one of my top customers comes into the store with an urgent need, I'll let my plans go in order to help her."

"Being a part of dynamic e-commerce environment where events don't always happen as per plan, one needs to be very careful and nimble. I have seen times when a campaign was planned and everyone is aligned to it, but due to some external factors like competitor doing something similar or bigger, we have to hold it back. Usually, this happens because we are conscious about our marketing spends. I believe I will further be able to build these skills at H&M."

Teamwork is important to us at H&M. Why do you consider yourself a team player?

"In my current role, I occasionally need to spend additional time mentoring and coaching new employees to ensure they fit in with the team. This responsibility creates a tighter timeline for other important deadlines; however, I see that the end goal is to create a well-oiled machine and that cannot happen without everyone being equally trained. I would bring this same commitment to team development to this position at H&M."

Working well on a team requires you to have solid interpersonal skills and self-awareness. Share a few of your best qualities that make you a team player.

"I have always considered myself a team player; I enjoy the interactions and positive energy a team environment creates. My favorite team environment was at my last company. The energy was incredible, and I believe the customers took notice. I hope to create the same environment here at H&M."

"So far, I have been quite lucky to be a part of great teams where members support each other, promote learning, are result-oriented, and hard working. I possess good coordination and judgment skills which helps me analyze the situation and act accordingly. I am a responsible, dependable and reliable person which portray characteristics of a great team player. I am excited to become a member of H&M team where I can learn from diverse set of people around."

"I have always considered myself a team player. I love to interact with people and create a positive work environment which allows everyone to grow and flourish. At my previous job, I have managed a diverse set of teams and was able to get the work done efficiently and effectively. I hope to bring the same team spirit to H&M."

At H&M we encourage our customers to create their own style. How would you describe your personal style?

"I would describe my personal style as 'sloppy chic' because I love large cable knit sweaters paired with leather leggings and a pair of great booties. My personal style is important to me because it's an expression of my mood on a day to day basis. It's how I can best express myself."

Having your own personal style is very important in fashion. Talk to the interviewer about how you define your style and what it means to you.

"I think it's important for everyone to have their own personal style and wear what they feel most comfortable in. If I could describe my personal style I would say it's ladylike with a touch of bohemian. My style icons include Kate Middleton and the Olsens."

"I describe my personal style as 'Casual' - combination of elegance and comfort. I prefer to put on a T-Shirt and black pants or maybe long Cardigan, crop top and summer jeans. I tend to keep it simple and match the accessories with whatever the simple clothing I am wearing. My style is a reflection of my mood and personality."

Do you consider yourself to be more creative or analytical minded?

"I lean more towards being creative minded; however, I am very capable of being analytically minded as well. I feel this greatly helps me with my management skills as I am a creative yet well organized leader."

Whether you consider yourself creative, or analytical - assure the interviewer that you are capable of providing both to the employer, if hired.

"I am more analytically minded; however, I do have a creative flair as well. The factors that make me analytically minded are my desire to get to the bottom of things. I am curious about process, and motives. I like to dig deeper than the surface of things."

"I would say, combination of both- creativity and analytical skills is innate to me with slight bent towards analytics. Possessing an experience in analytics and e-commerce industry enables me to minutely analyze the situation, think of resolution/insights and act upon it. Multiple things like planning collection launch events and customer strategy bit require innovation and creativity for exemplary success."

"I think I am a good mix of both. I am looking for creative ways to enhance the quality of customer service. Still, I also like to look to test my ideas from an analytical perspective to understand the feasibility of that idea. I want to dig deeper than the surface of things."

The fashion industry is fast paced and unpredictable. Your work schedule may reflect that unpredictability. Are you flexible in your schedule?

"I am happy to make myself available for work most times, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. I do have an evening course for the next 8 weeks on Thursdays; however, that is the only restriction currently on my schedule."

Assure the interviewer that you are capable of working an unpredictable schedule. If you have any restrictions in your schedule, this is a good time to talk to the interviewer about it.

"I have a few restrictions in my schedule; however, I am happy to accommodate most days. I am unavailable to work on weekends but from my research I believe you are closed on weekends anyways. Could you share with me the hours expectations for this position?"

"I have been working in fashion industry for quite long, so I am accustomed to the fast paced and unpredictable nature of it. I am comfortable in running my schedule as per the work requirements."

"Yes, I think right now, my focus is on growing in my career and learn as much as possible so I can be pretty flexible in my schedule and make myself available as and when required."

How do you stay on top of trends in the fashion industry?

"I stay on top of trends through reading high fashion magazines and browsing sites like Pinterest and Instagram. I also follow a few design houses and fashion bloggers on a variety of social media platforms."

Fashion is always changing and trends change faster than any other industry. Talk to the interviewer about the ways in which you stay in tune with new and top trends.

"My favorite place to stay on top of fashion trends is Instagram. I follow a multitude of trend setters, designers, and stylists. I find it easy and fast to scroll through the feed and see what others are wearing, and talking about."

"I read a couple of fashion magazines- Vogue, Cosmopolitan, GQ. Instagram is another platform which keeps me posted about new trendsetters and styles. I am also active on LinkedIn and Twitter which gives me an insight on celebrity endorsement/ tie-ups. Moreover, I keep browsing fashion apps like Myntra-Jabong, Koovs, Ajio, Nykaa to keep myself updated about upcoming trends and collection launches."

"I stay on top of trends through reading articles from various fashion publications like BOF, Vogue, and listening to podcasts specializing in the industry. Also, browsing social media platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram keeps me informed."

At H&M we offer many areas of opportunity and growth. Where would you like to see your career in the next 3-5 years?

"Over the next few years I would like to grow into a management function with H&M. I am willing to prove myself and do what it takes to get there. I'm encouraged by the fact that, for those who are passionate about exploring new opportunities within the H&M group, career possibilities seem endless."

"Ideally, 5 years from now, I would love to see myself growing into a more prominent leadership role within your organization. My career interests align very nicely with H&M's goals, which helps me to see a great long term fit here. I understand that employees are encouraged to to develop within their roles, or to move on to new roles and responsibilities in different parts of our organization, across any of our brands."

"I am excited about this position at H&M because in 5 years, I'd like to be seen as someone with great expertise in the fashion e-commerce sector and I know that's something that I'll have an opportunity to do here. "I have been working in fast-paced, stressful environments for the past 10 years. When I am under pressure, my performance is the best. It's like a runner's high for me. My current references will attest to my strong ability to perform under pressure."
