Weighers are responsible for weighing quantities of materials for different manufacturing processes. Depending on the materials they need to weigh and the quantity, they may use floor scales, a balance or a weighing platform to obtain the exact weight of the material. This can be a physically demanding job as the weigher starts by lifting the materials in loose or packaged form and placing them onto the scales. They then either remove the excess material or add additional material to get the correct total weight.
There are no advanced educational qualifications necessary to become a weigher. Most employers provide newly hired weighers with on the job training to teach them about their special procedures and processes. Weighers must have a keen eye for detail and excellent physical stamina and strength.
When you go for an interviewer for a weigher job, the interviewer may ask you questions related to your earlier experience. What materials did you work with? What equipment did you use to weigh the materials? Did you work independently or as part of a team? What makes you a good fit for this role? These are just some of the questions that you can expect to be asked at the interview. You can see more questions at mock interview questions for weighers.
