For example, at my previous job, my manager held monthly brainstorming sessions where she would encourage input from everyone. While these sessions were nerve-wracking at first, I quickly began to look forward to them. It was exciting to have my ideas be heard by the group, and those sessions made me feel more confident."

Unfortunately, I struggled a lot throughout my first year in that position because I didn't believe in the work I was doing. Politics played a big role, and it took forever to get anything done. It was disappointing because, throughout college, I thought working for a government agency would be the right path for me. I decided to try something new and take on an internship in the private sector, which turned out to be a better fit."

There were no transfers or resignations. I achieved this by incorporating fun into the work and increasing office morale by encouraging celebrations of individual and group successes. We even formed a walking club and got in shape during lunch breaks."
