Warehouse clerks perform a wide range of routine administrative tasks in warehouses. Their exact tasks may differ depending on the industry they are working in as well as the company they are employed by. In general, warehouse clerks peruse customer requirements, sort merchandise, put together and pack customer orders, help with processing orders, verify inventory, maintain supplies, and process return requests.
A high school diploma is sufficient to get hired as a warehouse clerk. Getting some work experience as an apprentice will boost your employment chances. Warehouse clerks must be efficient, organized, and detail oriented. Knowledge of safety procedures and protocol is extremely important.
Interview questions will typically be aimed at assessing your job knowledge and proficiency. Can you work independently to understand customer requirements and assemble the required items, pack and keep it ready for delivery? Do you know how to do an inventory and update stock records so that all items are available when necessary?
