"An important characteristic is confidence. A veterinarian meets a lot of new people who need confidence in your judgment to care for their pets. A vital skill is composure as you will find yourself in many unpredictable situations where composure is required to remain calm as you do not want to worry or stress the owner and to make sound judgments about the situation."

"This career is challenging and demanding; however, it is extremely rewarding. One of the most important skills in being a veterinarian is communication skills. Communicating with owners, the public, veterinary technicians and nurses, and other doctors in referrals are essential. Attention to detail is also a trait that any health professional needs to have. Being able to advocate for the human and animal skillfully is a crucial skill that I have learned from other veterinary professionals. All in all, a successful veterinary professional must exhibit a spirit of lifelong learning, a comforting personality, and the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently."

      Rachelle's Answer

The experience and insight that you bring are highly apparent. This is a fantastic and very full answer. Great work!

"I think that a vet needs various skills and behaviors to be able to deal with the situations that they encounter across a day. First, a vet needs to be calm so that they can deal with agitated animals and to communicate effectively with distressed owners. They need to have a wide range of knowledge to be able to support the owners by providing information on the options available, as well as needing to be able to confidently make decisions based upon information in the best interests of the animal."

      Rachelle's Answer

This is a fantastic and unique answer! Animals (and people) can sense so much, so the calmer you are, the better. Well done!
