      What You Need to Know

The interviewer is interested in where you see yourself in five years and if you are interested in a specific specialty. Career goal questions can be intimidating for someone just entering the field. Before your interview, take some time to think about what you would like to be doing in the next five years. This question often comes up in interviews because they are interested in how this job fits into your future goals. If you're not sure, think about the area you are interested in right now. If you haven't taken an exam to specialize in performing sonograms on a specific area of the body, think through a timeline that might be realistic for you. Set a few goals that might help you get there. If you are interested in working with OB/GYNs, explain that you plan to move towards women's health in the next few years. Until then, you want to take every opportunity to work with patients and learn what you can from each experience.
