They work normal business hours, though they may work more hours and/or on weekends depending on the event that they're planning. Meeting planners need to work well under pressure and at a fast pace. Important skills include interpersonal, organizational, and negotiation skills. Education requirements vary; having a degree in hospitality management or meeting and event management will be advantageous.
