What steps would you take if you saw a coworker doing something unsafe on the line?

1 of 32 Lineman Interview Questions and Answers Written by Rachelle Enns

who helps everyone from students to fortune executives find success in their career.
How to Answer

The interviewer would like to know if you are the type of person to report unsafe work or if you would rather fit in by protecting your co-workers, even when it's dangerous.

There is a fine balance when answering a question like this because you do not want to seem like an annoying whistle blower but you also do not want to come across as passive when it comes to safety in the workplace.

Professional Answer Examples
Answer example

"If I saw a coworker doing something unsafe on the line, I would speak to them about it in private, immediately. Safety is a major concern in this line of work and I don't take it lightly. If the coworker continued the behaviour, I would then notify my supervisor."

What steps would you take if you saw a coworker doing something unsafe on the line?
Alert the supervisor/ call him out on it.
Stop him and tell him to do it the safest way because we all want to go home to our families.
I would ask them to stop right the way and then report it to my supervisor.
First make it known to the worker what he is doing and advise he stops, if it continues I would take it to a head foreman.
I would mention a safe way of doing it and say what could possibly happen if something went wrong.
Tell him to stop and tell him what he is doing wrong and what will happen if he keeps doing what hes doing.
I would tell him to stop that its dangerous and then report the near miss to my supervisor.
Stop the coworker from continuing an unsafe job.
Tell them to stop what there doing if I could explain what there doing wrong and how to do it right I would tell them what to do if not I would get the foreman.
I would stop them and explain to them how to approach the situation safely.
As them to stop the act at that time and report to person in charge.
I will stop him and report to my supervisor.
