Why did you choose to pursue a career as a film and video editor?
I simply love telling stories... And since I was a kid, movies have been my main source of story telling / listening.
In film school and afterward I had experience with all positions of the production/post production cycle. I love it all from pre to post. But the magic of crafting story - of pulling meaning out of missed production opportunities -squaring the circle so to speak - and making a coherent emotionally fluid final piece is what gripped me about editing. It's the satisfaction of completion.
When I was in high school I found myself always doing little projects shooting videos skateboarding and snowboarding and putting them together. Even through university I started a YouTube channel with friends and I never did it expecting anything in return it was all because I loved it. I realized later that it was one of the only things I've always done throughout the years without losing any interest in it.
I'm a very creative person in general, but this was something that I really got the taste for at uni, I really enjoyed the process of filming and editing and then seeing the piece all come together.
Basically everything that has got links with creativity suits me in any way. Being a video editor, I'll get the chance to re-touch the already painted canvases.
It just happend, wasnt really thinking this is what I want but I love all things broadcasting and production.
My passion is entertaining people.
I like the whole process, the way we capture the movement in frames I wanted to show my prospective while exhibiting the movie.
I have always been interested in the technical side of the creative industries and how the art works with the technical prossess. I ran a studio for around 5 years, writing music my self. I have always been interested in video production so I borrowed some gear and make a music video for one of my tracks. I loved it, and I found I was pretty good at it. I had always notice techniques and now I was able to do them, or at least try. It went from there, I have always been a musican so music videos seemed like my natural out let.
I have a passion for this job. I find it so see easy when I work on film & video edits. Its so fulfilling.
I fell in love with editing almost 10 years. It was amazing the discovery, I didn't expect it at all. I started to study in a film school because I wanted to write scripts; but in the first year of that course, you had to pass for every position and do every work (director, dop, producer, writer...). And then, when it was my turn of editing, I discovered that where the film truly 'writes' is editing. So I guess I pursue a career as film editor because I want to tell stories, to express emotions.
Shooting in different angles and reveal scenes got me into it.
Well it is a divine connection .. I didn't just start it on my own. I have the passion since I was in my mother womb so I am only coming to these world to fufil the purpose....
It is something I have always liked. The idea of capturing something on film and take it and editing to make two different shots go together intrigued me. The whole job is a puzzle that need to be figured out to get what you want. Not just solved but to make it good.
I enjoy the directorship that an editor has over a film or video - they have the ability to almost complete change a storyline, simply by the inclusion of a certain frame at a certain point. When I realised this for myself, having also worked as an actress, I was flabbergasted, shocked and then seduced.
Love film making and editing.
I interesting the video editing and new styles it.
Because, I love telling a story with images. Convey feelings, sensations. Make people cry or laugh. Make people think, mobilize and act to certain thematic.
Basically I like films and animations I would like to be a good part of film making.
Because I'm awesome at it.
Creativity and responsibility involved. As an editor you bear the responsibility of others people mistakes.
