What You Need to Know
Prepare for this question ahead of time. It's a good idea to think about this common question when you begin your job search and jot down some ideas on what made you decide on this career: was it because you've always loved drawing, architecture, etc, or knew someone who worked as a drafter and learned from them.

Answer Example
"I chose technical school on a whim, to be honest. Right out of high school I wanted to travel but didn't have the funds to take many trips, so I enrolled in a local community college in CAD classes. When I enrolled in our local tech school I actually found it to be a lot more fun than I expected. So, I guess you could say that I kind of 'fell' into the decision. I have absolutely no regrets, nine years later and love what I do."
