About Atmospheric Chemist

August 17th, 2017

Atmospheric chemistry is a sub-specialty of atmospheric science. Atmospheric chemists specialize in studying the chemistry of the earth's atmosphere and how the composition changes due to natural processes such as lightning and volcanic emissions among others. This helps us better understand the interactions between living organisms and the atmosphere.
It takes advanced education to become an atmospheric chemist. A bachelor's degree is the minimum but it offers limited opportunities. A master's degree in chemistry, atmospheric science, meteorology, or a related field will offer enhanced employment opportunities.
Prospective employers will ask you a series of questions to determine your interest and suitability to the role. Be prepared to give answers that demonstrate your passion in atmospheric chemistry as well as your expertise in this field. Give examples of your accomplishments. Preparing your answers in advance will help you to come across as more confident and compelling. You can find commonly asked questions at mock interview questions.
