Animal husbandry workers are responsible for the care of animals as it relates to managing their breeding. They take care of different kinds of animals from livestock to pets, and select them for desirable traits such as performance or personality traits. They work typically work outdoors and are expected to have the stamina to do the work effectively throughout the day. The educational requirements vary. Some employers may only require a high school diploma and provide on-the-job training, while other employers may require an associate's degree or other vocational program.

The interview process for animal husbandry workers will focus on your ability to care for animals and make decisions that determine the effectiveness of breeding animals. This will involve your understanding of animals and their husbandry, as well as your ability to facilitate selective breeding (e.g. persuading selected animals to mate by manipulating their environment, etc.). Your potential employer will need to be convinced that you have deep knowledge of the animals you'll be expected to manage.
