A high school education is generally required, as is working knowledge of basic computer software. Job openings for administrative clerks can be found in local classified ads and free local daily newspapers, as well as through typical channels like online job boards such as Indeed and Craigslist. The interview will assess your skills (e.g. coachability, organizational skill, detail orientation) as it relates to your ability to learn and perform the tasks required. In my job as a steno typist II, I was asked to type correspondence, fill in as a typist/receptionist, and work within the central records area of the department. During my time in the central records, I had to work with a co-worker who kept trying to change my way of filing - I finally mentioned it to my supervisor, and the co-worker was called to Human Resources. While working as a data entry clerk, I was periodically asked to work overtime, sometimes until 7 or 8 p. M. At night in order to complete application forms for farmers to obtain funding - I was always happy to assist in this.

Perhaps a better understanding of how the administration area is run, as well as learning more about telephone etiquette and learning about reception duties as well.
