Account Manager Information
January 30th, 2017

An Account Manager can have many differing positions within an organization. Most account managers are sales people making sure their accounts are continuously ordering new products and services. They will make scheduled phone calls to their accounts based on customer ordering forecasts. It is important they maintain a positive relationship with their accounts to achieve a low turnover rate. Other account managers lead an account team that is in charge of a particular channel of customers.

Some duties of an account manager will be to develop and maintain long-term relationships with clients, schedule client phone calls, work with other account managers in developing and honing sales strategies, perform record-keeping and data entry, give sales presentations to their supervisors, and more.

An interviewee for an account manager position will expect a series of sales related interview questions. If in the job description the account manager oversees an account team, expect to answer leadership and management interview questions. The interviewer will ask about your performance at your last position. If it was a sales job, be sure to have your sales numbers ready. Expect questions such as: Why do you want to work for our company? What was the toughest product or service you had to sell? Describe your sales approach. Why do you think you will be an effective account manager within our company? When have you worked in a team environment before?
