ATV technicians specialize in maintaining and repairing ATVs and small engine vehicles. These specialist technicians are employed by ATV manufacturing companies and ATV service companies. They spend most of their work day either doing routine maintenance tasks for regular customers or performing repairs on damaged or faulty vehicles. Some of the tasks they perform on the job include adjusting, overhauling, repairing or replacing broken or faulty parts.
Anyone interested in pursuing a career as an ATV technician must complete a 2-year certificate, diploma, or associate degree program in small engine repair. Strong diagnostic, mechanical and problem-solving skills are essential for this role. Good hand-eye coordination and physical endurance are also important. Completing an apprenticeship under the guidance of an experienced ATV technician will give you the necessary first-hand experience.
