I carried over this same work ethic and drive to my undergraduate program and will bring them here to Western University of Health Sciences in your PA program."

What is your favorite area of medicine so far? Which is your least favorite? Why?

"At this point in my studies, I am most interested in Pediatrics as I have always been passionate about helping children. I bring the compassion required for that area of medicine. Most of my volunteer experience has been around children's issues. The area of medicine that I find to be my least favorite so far is Pathology. I do not foresee myself in a lab setting that isn't patient-facing."

He would have had to have faced so many roadblocks, yet he continued to believe in his work."

"I believe that the basic concepts of socialized health care and privatized health care are good and speak to every range of patients in our country. Some of my peers have expressed their love for socialized health care because, although they pay a higher tax rate, they are not caught in an expensive whirlwind when they face illness. Privatized health care, on the other hand, can offer significantly shorter wait times for patients. That is very important for those with a potentially critical or debilitating illness. I believe it is important to have options for both so that people can choose and realize that the landscape here will change a lot throughout my career as a Physician Assistant."

"I feel the most concerning issue in the medical industry is the continual rise of drug prices and other related costs. The best medications should be accessible regardless of financial or social status. There has been a rising concern with big pharma creating drugs and pricing them so high that they are unattainable to most. Having talked with several physicians and APPs in the last year, most are concerned that some people simply won't seek care when they're sick because of this. What do you feel are the most concerning issues facing the medical industry today?"

"I'm a firm believer that in-home care will continue to evolve and grow, and the past few years during the pandemic have certainly pressed this trend forward. Technology in healthcare continues to evolve rapidly, and this will only help patients to leave inpatient hospital care and get home. I was just reading about new home monitoring devices that providers can use in these situations and can't wait to see how this continues to develop."

I excelled in these even more in college because they relate to the area of medicine I plan to end up in as a Physician Assistant. I think I can improve my time management skills. I overextended myself last semester with volunteer opportunities, and my study time suffered slightly. Now that I have identified the reason behind my time management challenges, I will only see improvement moving forward."

"I have never been a queasy individual, and I fully understand the cases I will see in my career as a PA. During high school, I worked at a local veterinarian's office and regularly assisted with minor procedures and surgeries on dogs, cats, and other pets. I successfully managed even the most hands-on cases, and this experience drove me to a career in medicine."

For perhaps the first time in your life, training as a Physician Assistant will put you face-to-face with the harsh realities of the job. That includes working with blood and other bodily fluids. If there is specific medical evidence supporting viewpoints on any topic, I wouldn't hesitate to talk that through with a patient so they could make the best decision for their care."
