6. Texas Health Resources is a large organization that spans the entire Dallas/Fort Worth/Arlington area. Are you open to providing coverage in other clinics and hospitals if asked? As well, are you open to transfer opportunities if any became available?

With the sheer size and coverage area of Texas Health Resources, your interviewer will be looking to hear if you'd have the willingness and ability to help cover at other locations if needed along with looking to find out if you'd be searching for other opportunities in the future with the organization. With this being a two-fold question, be open and honest with your interviewer about your ability to provide coverage elsewhere when considering commuting or other factors from your personal life. Then, regarding your desire to look for new opportunities, be honest with your interviewer about your career goals and the potential to remain employed with the organization while also giving the position you are interviewing for its fair share of your time.

Show the interviewer that you work well with most personalities even though you recognize there are some folks out there who are quite difficult to please.
Think about that one person at work who is seen as hard to please. Perhaps there is someone at work who tries to intimidate others. Employers expect employees to stay up-to-date on their respective field, and today's technology makes this reasonably easy! List several ways that you receive your industry knowledge and stay on top of trends.
Tell the interviewer about those daily update emails you receive from professional organizations, conferences you attend, and seminars you have taken.
Lastly, it's a great idea to ask the interviewer what resources they refer to for industry trends. That question can start up a great conversation, and you may learn a thing or two as well.

"I know this will come off as cliche, but it's truthful. My weakness is in not delegating. I know what I want to be done and how I want it done, so it's often easier to do it myself. However, it can inhibit my ability to grow. I've spoken with my current manager about it, and we've developed a system where he can call me out on the behavior since often I'm not aware of it. One of my colleagues was attempting to put over-the-counter medications in her purse. I saw what she was doing and asked if she had paid for those items. She told me to look the other way and not tell anyone. Since she would not put the items back, I reported the incident to my supervisor, and they reviewed the security cameras. She was let go after that. I do not tolerate stealing and cannot look the other way if I see someone doing something illegal or unethical."

"As a nurse that had to make the switch from paper charting to the electronic health record, I certainly did struggle at first keeping up with computer documentation. Where in the past I could jot down quick notes at the patient's bedside on the chart, the EHR didn't allow that. In the first week's live on an EHR, I did miss a couple of important patient notes and from that point forward, I put a priority on taking time for documentation after each visit with a patient. After a short amount of time, I realized that the EHR was more efficient to use and allowed more time with patients as long as I was organized and diligent about documenting. Having now worked on a few different systems, you'll find I am very effective and efficient with my documentation if I was hired for this position."

Due to the diverse nature of our cases and the preferences of the surgeons, I was mixing up some of the instruments on the trays that each surgeon preferred when they were in surgery. Rather than the typical documenting and reprimanding style that management usually takes, I decided to track the results of an accountability reward system. For 180 days, my employees were rewarded for coming to work 10 minutes early. Also, for every month with zero sick days, a bonus was added. In the end, we awarded those with perfect attendance a $600 bonus. The bonus' cost us less money, in the end than the cost of lowered productivity due to absent employees.
