"One of my supervisors asked that I turn in a sensitive report by the end of the day. I over-committed, taking on too many tasks that day. I was trying to please and show off my ambition, but I lacked realistic time management skills at the time and struggled to complete them by the end of my shift. So, I stayed late to get it all done. But that supervisor left for the day, and I wanted to deliver it to them. I wasn't sure if I should just leave it on their desk or not. Then, another supervisor, who was quite new, told me to just give it to them, and they'd pass it along. I agreed. The next day, the first supervisor asked where the report was, and I told them I gave it to the other supervisor. Only then did I learn that the other supervisor just left for vacation. They were unreachable, and no one could find the report. I ended up having to reconstruct the report. I didn't have to start from scratch, but it added another hour and a half of work, and it was not submitted on time. Now, I take extra measures to ensure everything is more thoroughly communicated, that my time management is more realistic and that I proactively take responsibility for my actions and think through all scenarios more thoroughly."
