Question 4 of 35

We give back to the greater good by sponsoring Operation Smiles, a program that offers free surgeries for children and medical education around the globe through medical missions. Have you had the chance to give back through your work?

"First and foremost, I had the time to read about your amazing giving back efforts in your Operation Smile program and the DE&I strategies that Stryker is putting in place. These are efforts I would be proud to be a part of in the future. In recent years, I've helped lead local clothing drives and tutoring in schools with my current employer. Nothing brings greater satisfaction to my heart than seeing these efforts bring smiles to the faces of less fortunate children and their families. I'm always happy to give back and help where I am able."

  • 4. We give back to the greater good by sponsoring Operation Smiles, a program that offers free surgeries for children and medical education around the globe through medical missions. Have you had the chance to give back through your work?

      How to Answer

In 2021, Stryker launched their Impact program, a global volunteer and giving platform that supports causes that employees are passionate about. Through the program, the company matches employee donations dollar for dollar. One such program that has taken off is their Operation Smile campaign, which provides surgical and medical care for children with cleft and other conditions in low-income countries. Since giving back is such an important way of life there, your interviewer is hoping to hear that you do your part in giving back to individuals or communities through your work.

"In many instances, I have rallied for patients that did not have the means to afford their elective surgeries. I worked with my company to have the product donated and then collaborated with the surgeon to have his physician fee waived to provide access to our therapy for less fortunate patients. I have also spent hours representing our company at local CRPS meet up groups and help sponsor those meeting for patients that share the same afflictions that our therapy helps treat."

Fantastic! This is great information for the interviewer to know. You are familiar with giving back, which is a strong cultural fit. I condensed some of the wording, and added language around your shared passions to give back.
