Question 19 of 35

What are some of your weaknesses?

"A weakness that I've been working on is finding a balance between taking control of a situation and allowing my coworkers to handle a tough situation. When my coworkers are not meeting expectations, I tend to jump in to fix the situation. Given my managerial experience, I'm accustomed to a hands-on work environment with coworkers. I have to remind myself not to take on too much work and allow my coworkers to handle situations independently too to be the best team member I can be."

Why the Interviewer Asks This Question

We all have things we can improve on, so do not be afraid to share them. The interviewer will likely take note of these things and may even provide you with additional training in these areas to help you excel. The interviewer wants to hear that your weaknesses, while relevant to the role, are not critical to your success at Starbucks.

Think of a couple of things you could improve upon that are not crucial for job performance, and openly share them with the interviewer. Be honest; interviewers can see through attempts to give a fake weakness. And most importantly, focus on the plan you've put into place to improve on this weakness. Perhaps you are watching TED talks to gain skills in a particular area, reading books or articles on the subject, or even taking a course at a nearby community center.
