"I am a person that thrives on teamwork. In my current role as a clinical midwife, I am charged with coordinating all areas of the ward, such as the labor ward and postnatal ward. I also see antenatal patients and help assist with the day assessment unit. Often on busy days, the staff are working through their breaks and struggle to complete all aspects of their work. I will always make myself available to help them where I can and even cover their patient load so they can have a break. I will always encourage the girls to work as a team as it is a small team continually communicating with the midwives, doctors, and managers."

"I have been working around 1 year as a casual pool AIN. From this experience I have developed work in multidisciplinary team as an effective team member. For instance, due to I was casual pool, I had to go to the different clinical area for each shift.



Even though, I have a relatively small scope of practice then RNs and ENs, I was able to consolidate value of teamwork. I would like to talk about how could I able to function as effective team member in each shift.



To be a effective member of team, firstly I introduce myself to the other nurses; please let me know if I can help you with anything. Secondly, I show my respect to the other team members by listening to their opinion and needs. Moreover, I acknowledged the different scope of practice of each team member and recognize their value of team. Lastly, I took initiative to work together with other nurses such as look at the other nurses time planner and do what I can within my scope of practice. I believe this helped to make a positive work environment such as work together rather than individually. So, our team always able to complete the patient caring tasks on time."

"When working in the IVF theatre, we had some patients ready for surgery. One lady took her trigger injections too early, so we had to reshuffle. We consolidated with the scientist, the doctor, the scrub team, and dosa to have the order reorganised so that each woman had their procedure at the right time. I kept my role as anesthetic nurse, but was also on the phone as communication between dosa and theatre."

"One great team experience I had was when I was part of a cross-functional team that was tasked with improving the efficiency of a critical process in our organization. As the team mediator, my role was to facilitate open communication and collaboration among team members from different departments.



During our discussions, we identified a key bottleneck in the process that was causing delays and errors. By actively listening to everyone's perspectives and encouraging a constructive dialogue, I helped the team find a consensus on the best approach to address the issue.



Together, we developed a comprehensive action plan that involved streamlining workflows, implementing new technology, and providing additional training to the staff involved. By leveraging the diverse expertise of each team member and fostering a supportive environment, we successfully implemented the solution, resulting in significant improvements in process efficiency and overall outcomes.



Throughout this experience, I learned the importance of effective teamwork, where individuals feel heard and valued. By playing the role of a mediator, I facilitated collaboration, built consensus, and ensured that everyone's ideas were considered. This positive team dynamic enabled us to overcome challenges and achieve our shared goals."
