Written by Michelle Clark on January 27th, 2024
1st Answer Example
"When a change occurs in the workplace I initially try to balance the pros and the cons before reacting. Overall I would say that I prefer to focus on why the changes will work. I am a positive person by nature, and as long as the reasons behind change and the potential benefits of implementing that change are clearly communicated by leadership, I've found that most team members will be generally accepting."
Written by Michelle Clark on January 27th, 2024
2nd Answer Example
"I am happy to adapt to changes as long as they make sense and help with productivity. I am a team player and will always choose the positive side of things rather than dwelling on potential difficulties. I'm also very pragmatic and understand the concept of 'adapt or die.' I know that any successful organization must continually adapt to its environment in order to ultimately thrive, so change within the workplace is entirely expected."

6. Why do you want to work for Ralph Lauren?
Why the Interviewer Asks This Question
How you answer this question should inform your interviewer of your motives for pursuing this position, and whether you are pursuing it for the right reasons. Someone who is primarily interested in the pay and the perks will probably be less committed to the company. Everything Ralph Lauren's employee culture tells us is that those who work there see it as a way of life and are interested in working for Ralph Lauren for many years to come. So examine your motives, and what it is about this job or this company you feel will foster your job satisfaction. Why does this opportunity feel like the right fit for you?

What You Need to Know
Some pursue a position with Ralph Lauren because they are inspired by the man himself. As Ralph Lauren said, "I have never thought of this company as a one-man show. This is a show of talent in every division of this company that has learned their craft. Each one of you has a story that brought you here, that keeps you here, that inspires you, that grows and feeds your passion." Others identify with the sensibilities of the company, and that of "Timeless Luxury. Luxury is a sensibility, an approach to life. It's not about the season's newest anything. It's about personal style and creating an environment of comfort and ease. Luxury is quality and timeless elegance." For some, it is about "The Cut. Timeless style and a certain elegance. The fitted shape, the cut, how you feel in it, that's good quality and taste." And for many, it is about finding a professional outlet for the artist within them. "Style is very personal. It has nothing to do with fashion. Fashion is over very quickly. Style is forever."
Written by Kevin Downey on January 25th, 2024
Experienced Example
"Well, in addition to working for a company that has a timeless style which I have always resonated with, the people here seem to form a culture of similar sensibilities as my own. I'd say it is the atmosphere of encouragement, where dedicated, engaged, and focused artists are empowering each other to be creative, to be themselves, and to push their limits towards greater success. For example, how the company has an employee relief fund, where everyone in the Ralph Lauren family can help each other out. That's amazing. And how the company matches donation contributions and encourages its people to volunteer because they really do care. That's why I want to work here. I want to work in a culture where art and family are one. And, to me, the company is definitely more than just clothes, or goods for the home, from bedding to fine furniture to elegant dishware. It really is about a whole lifestyle. So, I want to work somewhere that feels like home."

Written by Michelle Clark on January 27th, 2024

Written by Michelle Clark on January 27th, 2024

Written by Michelle Clark on January 27th, 2024
1st Answer Example
"What makes a great team member is not that they agree with everything but the level of respect and positive thought that goes into the person's communication style. Written by Michelle Clark on January 27th, 2024
2nd Answer Example
"I have had team members disagree with decisions that I have made as a manager, and it does not bother me unless they are disrespectful about the situation. In fact, I believe that sometimes disagreeing with the leader is the strongest sign of a good team member. If someone disagrees with me because they have the greater good of the team and/or the company in mind, then I want to hear that. And as a strong leader, I need to hear it."

What You Need to Know
At Ralph Lauren, their people describe that they all have "a common passion for the brand." In their "Life At Ralph Lauren" videos on the careers site, they talk about how caring is what makes their organization magical. "Everything has to start from caring. People will give you extra effort if they know that you care. When we take care of our employees, our employees then will take care of our consumers. The culture and the value system that's in place with Ralph Lauren, it comes through movement, opportunity, trying different things. It's just part of how we operate and do business."
They also talk about the people who come to work for Ralph Lauren, seeing it as more than just a job. They see it as a lifestyle. "It's not just about the clothes, it's about a whole lifestyle. This isn't a job you have for two years or three years. There are people here that are here for 30 years. And once you get into the family, it's a family you never want to leave. People make decisions to stay for a very long time because the culture is right. Because of how important they feel and how connected they feel to that culture. It's an extremely hard-working group of people here. And extremely talented."
Written by Kevin Downey on January 25th, 2024
Experienced Example
"Ralph Lauren should bring me onboard simply because, in many ways, I am already a member of the family. I grew up in a home furnished by Ralph Lauren. In fact, my parents were such patrons of the company that friends of the family called our home the Ralph Lauren Gallery. This carried over into my adulthood. Look at my wardrobe and you'll understand. Aside from that, my work ethic speaks for itself. I work extremely hard and smart and love what I do with a passion. I am a calculated risk-taker who has a lot of integrity and who always can be counted on to do the right thing. I am reliable, trustworthy, entrepreneurial, creative, strong, and I am passionate about the Ralph Lauren brand."

How you behave in a conflict situation will be critical information for the interviewer.
Written by Michelle Clark on January 27th, 2024
1st Answer Example
"Nobody enjoys conflict in the workplace; however, I have experienced it before. In my previous position, there was a miscommunication with my manager related to my work schedule. Once the customer feels heard, I then begin troubleshooting the issue and working to resolve it. I won't leave a service call until I know the customer is delighted, and I believe this approach will fit well within the Ralph Lauren culture."

22. Tell me about yourself.
Why the Interviewer Asks This Question
Recruiting is a challenging job. Most interviewers will admit that the best interviews are when a candidate is being themself. Any experienced interviewer has a strong sense of when the talent they're interviewing is nervous, disingenuous, or isn't being fully honest or forthright. When this is the case, their work is that much more challenging, because it's their job to get to know the candidate for who. they are, which will help them identify whether they are their target talent. This is no different for Ralph Lauren's recruiters.
Their primary objective is to get to know you, the candidate, and to determine if you have the skills and experience to perform at the job you are interviewing for. But even more importantly, they need to determine how well matched you are to the Ralph Lauren culture, and how effectively you would integrate and build relationships with their teams. So, their favorite interviews are those when the person they're interviewing is being themselves. And, their ideal candidates are those who are not only being themselves but are genuinely a great fit for their company. So, this opening question is your chance to set the stage for the rest of the interview. Take advantage of it, and be yourself, with confidence, and share why you genuinely feel this is the right fit for the next stage of your career.
Written by Kevin Downey on January 24th, 2024
How to Answer
When preparing for your interview, you'll want to familiarize yourself with everything Ralph Lauren. Go into your interview already feeling integrated into the culture. Take note of the unique corporate language they use, especially in their purpose statement, and then identify those keywords and key phrases that they frequently use on their website. Try to adopt those words and that language into your own. Or, at the very least, pinpoint how you share those values, and then communicate those in your own words. Also, if you are artistically inclined, in any way, try to tie that into your pursuit of this opportunity. For, as they say on their website, "An artist will always find a place at Ralph Lauren."

My mother was a successful stockbroker, so we were often surrounded by beautiful places and beautiful things, with style, and in style. Both she and my father had an appreciation for the finer things in life. And, as I started my career, I realized how important these sensibilities of authenticity and timeless style meant to me. As time went on, I realized I wanted to work in an environment that celebrated these sensibilities, but also surrounded by coworkers who celebrated this as well. I needed to work in teams that share my brand of artistic appreciation, who were equally dedicated for similar reasons, who care about each other, and are their genuine authentic selves. I realized in that environment, I could be my own genuine, authentic self. So, this is what I am in pursuit of, and that's my story of how I ended up here, at Ralph Lauren."

What You Need to Know
Ralph Lauren describes working for them as so much more than a job. On their website, they state that they are looking for employees who are interested in growing with them. "We are passionate about empowering you to create your own journey. From those who've only begun exploring opportunities to longtime family members, we are focused on tailoring your career path to your unique talents, skills, and dreams. Your career story starts here. Belong. Inspire. Recognize. Grow. Join."

"Well, I would say that one of my weaknesses is sometimes struggling to find the right questions to ask. You see, when I started my career journey, and my supervisors were offering me advice, they just kept repeating that I should keep asking questions. But this wasn't very good advice, since my first question was hoping to learn what questions I should be asking. Now, I compulsively ask questions. But sometimes I get too focused on answering questions that hold less priority than what I should be asking right now. But my inquisitive nature is partly what fuels my passion to develop and grow and to find my direction. I liked what it said on Ralph Lauren's website, tailoring your own career path, by design. That's what I am doing. But I suppose sometimes I get too focused on answering those big-picture career questions and lighting the path to get there, that I lose focus on the more pressing short-term goals. But it is something I am focusing on, and have made a lot of improvement in since I started working on it."
