3. When you suffer a setback on the job, how does that emotionally affect you and your work?
Why the Interviewer Asks This Question
Your interviewer at Qatar Airways is fully aware that everyone handles the stress and disappointment of setbacks on the job differently. What they'll be ideally looking to hear is that you can face a setback head-on by being accountable for your own actions and doing what is necessary to make a situation right by being diligent.

How to Answer
Discuss with the interviewer how you typically cope with delays in the workplace in a healthy manner. If possible, use an example of a time when you had to confront a setback on the job and take action to fix the situation. As you answer, reiterate that you understand that working in the commercial airline industry will find you in some stressful and time-sensitive situations and that you are ready and willing to get to work in this type of environment.

1st Answer Example
"Experiencing a setback is always disappointing, and can even be a bit disheartening, but I understand that it happens from time to time on the job here at Qatar Airways. If I would experience a major setback, I would start by doing what is necessary to rectify the situation. If a passenger was involved, I would speak directly with them and let them know what I would do to take care of the situation. Then I would take a few moments to debrief with my manager and discuss what I could have done differently."

2nd Answer Example
"Setbacks happen for a reason, and they do not affect me emotionally in the least. I am a very pragmatic thinker and stay focused on my project, despite the challenges that come my way. I am a creative thinker, so setbacks are often used as a new jumping-off point to something even better. In my current position, this happens from time to time when customers change their orders at the last minute and I always need to be flexible and ready to do some rework to make them happy."
