Of course! I have a lot of experience upselling. I had to do a lot of it at my previous job. I find it easier to upsell to a customer when you actually take the time to casually talk with them and get to know them.. Find out their likes and dislikes.. or in this case their pets likes or dislikes.. and then offer them a product that you know they will benefit from in the future.
Yes i can i believe that as long as you approacvh a customer and determine their needs you can gradually work yourself up to finding them exactly what they are looking for and suggesting a better product as well as continuing to expand the sale.

From person experience I would assume the the animal is nerves and might not be accustomed to this type of environment so I might pick up ma treat or two carefully approach to avoid alarming said animal which might then led to more barking, start off with some baby talk fallowed by a little bit of petting than the treats.
I would bring a treat for the pet and try to find out from the owner why the pet was unhappy.
I would grab a treat and offer it to the animal as well as approaching it to try and distract it from barcking. If barcking continues i will let my manager know so that they can handle the issue or see how they would like to go about it.
I would cheerfully greet the customer and his/her barking companion with a hello and a smile.Ask him/her the name of the animal and why he/she seems to b so fussy. Yes, I actually saw a 3 day kitten in the road and kept it for five days until I found it a home.

The best aspect of owning a pet is that you always have a companion who loves and depends on you.
