As an increasing number of people are accessing content via mobile devices, Pardot wants to ensure that it is offering tools that address these trends. What experience do you have developing mobile applications as it relates to online marketing?

Working in an industry such as online advertising, it is crucial that team members keep up with technology trends. As most companies do, Pardot shifts its resources to address trends such as mobile marketing.

If you do not have experience as a developer of mobile applications, but you have some work experience related to it, then mention those. At the very minimum, be prepared and research mobile marketing tools and share what you have learned.

"In my previous position as a developer, I had the opportunity to work on a mobile marketing platform that allowed marketers to manage and measure their mobile marketing efforts in one place. This tool allowed for easy customization, personalization and tracking of marketing campaigns. My responsibility as a developer was to implement additional capabilities based on user feedback. This required me to stay abreast of changing trends in the Online Marketing industry."

"As a developer, I have not had experience working directly with mobile marketing tools. However, I have worked with different marketing technologies such as content management systems and email marketing tools. My work with a variety of clients on these tools helped me gain knowledge on the overall Online Marketing industry, including mobile marketing. I understand there are different mobile marketing tools and platforms available that allow marketers to create, deliver and track mobile marketing campaigns. I understand the importance of making sure marketing content is visually appealing when delivered or viewed on mobile devices."

As a team member in our technical department, what do you believe will be the most valuable skill you have to offer Pardot as we continue to strive to be a competitive player in marketing automation and various other marketing tools?

Hiring managers would like to see which technical skills you find to be your strongest assets and if those skills match with the needs of Pardot. Be sure to select the technical expertise you are most confident about as they may ask more specific follow-up questions about your experience with that particular skill.

As you formulate your response, consider how your specific skill will help Pardot remain competitive with its marketing automation platform and other online marketing tools. If possible, highlight how your ability may differentiate you from other candidates.

I have had years of experience developing websites with a vast array of capabilities for a variety of large companies. An important aspect of good web development is the ability to make the site user-friendly, and being able to balance that with the robust capabilities of the site. This is important when developing online marketing tools where many core users may have a non-technical background."

"Based on my knowledge and experience with Marketing Automation platforms, I am confident that my database programming skills would make valuable contributions to Pardot's continuous efforts to remain relevant in the industry. Describe your experience working with digital advertising?

Before getting into the details of your technical experience, hiring managers would like to be assured that you have knowledge in the area of digital advertising. In your response, share details about projects or jobs where you were exposed to digital advertising, but also make an effort to describe your knowledge in this area.

"My work experience includes working for a couple of different agencies that offered digital marketing services to its clients. While working at these agencies, I worked closely with the Account Managers to understand the clients' marketing needs. There are many technological tools in this area that help clients better target, deliver and manage their digital advertising. With an increasing number of options available to companies looking to advertise through digital channels, it is crucial to have the right tools to manage the process."

"In a few of my previous positions, I had the opportunity to work with the Marketing department to help develop digital advertising campaigns for our company. I contributed to the technical requirements of the campaign project team, which included evaluating the right tools for campaign execution. Working as part of the team, I learned how complex digital advertising can be and the importance of using the right technology for each step of the process. This gives the digital advertising campaign the best chance at meeting its goals."

Do you have experience in cold calling? If so, tell me about your targets and results.

Cold calling, warm calling, prospecting, and building a sales pipeline - these are all tasks generally associated with most financial services roles. Assure the interviewer that you are capable and willing to do what it takes to get the sales results you need!

"I have experience in cold calling and all other forms of generating new and repeat business. I took a workshop last year on the art of cold calling as well. In my most recent position I made approximately 100 cold calls per week."

How can we motivate you on the job?

Every employer should know how each staff member is best motivated. Talk to the interviewer about the variety of ways in which you are best motivated on the job.

"I am best motivated through words of praise and recognition for a job well done. I do like to know that my efforts are being noticed. In my current position, we have a leaderboard, and I do like that concept because it creates a healthy bit of personal competition for me as well."

"I am motivated by knowing something about the end customer and being able to relate to them as a person. A personal touch is always helpful for me."

What do you know about our clients at Pardot?

Getting to know Pardot before your interview is a very important step. In addition to reviewing the company history, you also want to have a good understanding of who Pardot services, collaborates with, and does the bulk of their business with. A thorough read through their website, online reviews, and a Google search can tell you a lot.

"From the research that I have conducted, it appears that the bulk of your clients are within the consumer services sector. It is apparent, after reading through your website and online reviews, that you have a strong client base and a very faithful client following. I would love to learn more about your biggest clients and the work you do for them."

How do you handle a Real Estate client with unrealistic expectations?

Some clients will want to check off every box on their wish list, and that property may not exist. Talk to the interviewer about how you ensure that these clients do not leave disappointed.

"When I have a client with unrealistic expectations, I will be transparent and immediately tell them that their needs may not be met. I will show them comparable listings on the market and give them ideas on how they can add to the property after purchase to tailor the home to their needs."

"I do not like to lead clients on as it wastes their time and energy. I am truthful and honest upfront but will also recommend remedies to their unattainable expectations. Compromise is often the key and, for the most part, clients appreciate my transparency."

With Company B, I began from the ground up and left with a portfolio of business worth $$$. In my last position, with Company C, I was the top grossing financial services employee in our branch at 167% to target."

"At this point in my career I do not have a lot of financial sales related experience; however, I am well versed in a variety of business development and cold calling techniques. I fully understand how to build a sales pipeline and see the importance of building a referrals based business."

Our industry is innovative and ever-changing. How do you stay on top of industry related news?

Talk to the interviewer about a few ways that you stay in touch on new trends within the marketing industry. Knowing that you keep in touch on the latest trends will show the interviewer that you are engaged in this industry and willing to invest your time into learning more. You can also start a great conversation by asking the interviewer how they prefer to say up to date.

"I agree - this industry is fast changing, and it's really important to stay up to date on the new trends in the market. To keep up to date, I subscribe to AdWeek as well as Communication Arts Magazine. I read a variety of publications; however, these two are the ones I read daily. Do you have any recommendations for staying on top of industry trends?"

"I have a Google alert set up for a variety of industry related keywords that include marketing, sales, search engine optimization, search engine marketing, and content development. I learn a lot from absorbing these small bits of news on a daily basis. in ad"

10.

We have a culture of collaboration and high energy here at Pardot. Describe your workplace personality in 3 words.

The interviewer would like to know what first comes to mind when you are asked to describe your personality. Be prepared by writing down some keywords ahead of time that best describe you.

If you can, visit the company website, read their job posting and see if you can find a common set of descriptive words that seem to resonate really well with Pardot. Incorporate those if you can. Avoid giving generic, run-of-the-mill answers and make sure to compliment Pardot on their efforts when it comes to an energetic workplace culture.

If you do not have any criminal history, this is an answer that will be very simple and concise. If you do have a criminal history, now is the time to disclose it.

"I do not have a criminal history of any kind and I am happy to comply with any form of background check you require."

"I should disclose to you that I have a mark on my criminal record. I have a DUI from 1998. Since then I have maintained a clean record and I am willing to comply with any form of background check that you require."

Pardot offers a few different online marketing tools to its clients and we are continually evaluating opportunities to expand our offerings. What types of online marketing tools have you had experience with from the developer side?

Pardot's mission is to provide its customers with tools that increase the efficiency and value of their online marketing efforts. Hiring managers would like to consider candidates who have a holistic view of online marketing tools and not necessarily focused on a small subset of it.

If you have developer experience with online marketing tools, explain in some detail the tool's purpose and function. If you do not have developer experience with online marketing tools, mention any other developer work experiences that you can relate to a particular online marketing tool.

"As a developer, I have had experience working with tools that allow marketers to send emails to customers and prospects with high delivery rates while tracking the essential data to measure the effectiveness of email marketing campaigns. In addition, I have helped to develop and troubleshoot graphic design tools that allow marketers to create display ads in a quick and cost efficient way."

"Although my experience as a developer does not include online marketing tools, many of the projects I have worked on required skills that could be easily applied to online marketing tools. For example, I have worked on developing analytics tools which are valuable to marketers looking to evaluate their online marketing efforts. Also, my database and data warehouse experience will be helpful in further developing these tools to ensure connectivity with warehouses or databases."

Many employers look to hire employees who have a penchant for knowledge and growth. Express your interest in continued education by passionately discussing a topic that you would love to learn more about. Be sure to keep your answer industry and job related.

"I love the idea of expanding my knowledge within internet marketing. If I could choose any topic for continued education, I would choose to learn more about search engine optimization and search engine marketing. You can dive really deep into each of those topics which is an exciting challenge for me."

If I had the opportunity to expand my knowledge in any area of marketing, I would choose Consumer Behavior Insights. There is so much to learn when it comes to consumer spending and buying patterns- it's fascinating."

What is the most competitive work situation you have experienced? How did you handle it? What was the result?

This question is designed to determine if you can function well in a competitive environment. Think back to a time when you were racing others to achieve the highest sales, were working towards a promotion, or eagerly trying to win a new contract. Show the interviewer that you rose to the challenge and that you were excited to push yourself to be the best. It is a definite plus if you have cheered on your competitors and helped them along the way. Finally, be sure to mention any successful outcome.

"My current sales position is highly commission based, so my colleagues and I are quite competitive. Despite being competitive, we have a great work environment where we help each other when someone is struggling to meet their quota. We coach each other on sales techniques and share success stories. The result has been a positive work environment with healthy competition."

"Last year I worked at a high-end jewelry store where sales goals were intense, and the rewards were high. I am geared for healthy competition, so when we had contests, it greatly motivated me. I ended up winning 7 of the 12 contests! I won an iPad, cash incentives, and concert tickets. It was great."

15.

As a Real Estate Agent you are expected to be available to your clients on evenings, weekends, and holidays. Are you comfortable with these expectations?

The life of a Real Estate Agent isn't a typical 9-5, Monday to Friday gig. Your clients' primary availability may be outside of 'regular' working hours which means that you need to be available for them during those times. Assure the interviewer that you have a full understanding of these hours requirements.

"I am very comfortable with the hours required of me to succeed in Real Estate. If I do need some time off, or a weekend away, I will plan far ahead. My cell is always on me, and my clients understand that they can book showings with me outside of typical work hours, no problem at all."
