Adaptability
1. Can you accommodate working a wide range of hours and overtime as needed?
What You Need to Know
Your interviewer is curious how adaptable you'd be to accommodating an unpredictable and varied schedule. Considering the nature of the company's model, there are no regular flight routes. The destinations are determined on demand as needed, and routes vary. "NetJets flight attendants may fly virtually anywhere based on our Owners' travel needs." This affects the hours you'd be working and where you'd travel to and from. Therefore, their ideal candidates would be able to "adapt to changing flight schedules." As they state on their website, "Not every flight goes as planned. We need to be constantly aware of changing weather patterns, customer requests, and flight logistics." However, with seniority, "flight attendants can live in various locations around the U.S. and can also choose from several types of work schedules."
So familiarize yourself with the expectations of the role, and don't let any questions in your interview catch you off guard. Assure your interviewer that you are aware of the inconsistent schedule associated with this role. If you have relevant experience to draw on, share it.
Written by Kevin Downey on July 19th, 2023
Experienced Example
"In my most recent position with Airline XYZ, I had an inconsistent schedule that required me to often be on call. I worked many weekends and holidays. This is part of the lifestyle. This is in my comfort zone, and I'm happy to work any hours offered."
Written by Kevin Downey on July 18th, 2023
Answer Example
"I am available to work a wide range of hours, plus overtime. I prefer enough notice to at least make appropriate childcare arrangements."

2. All employees of NetJets are expected to wear a uniform to work. Are you comfortable with this policy?
What You Need to Know
NetJets' ideal candidates are those who would enthusiastically embrace every aspect of what it means to be a member of the team. This includes being willing to wear their uniforms with pride. As they advertise online, their "Company-provided uniforms boast our signature style of elegance." Regardless of your position on whether uniforms feel like a touchy subject, in the airline industry, they often serve as a security measure and uphold the standing and reputation of the company. So discuss with the interviewer your experience and willingness to work in uniform.

Experienced Example
"Uniforms are an industry standard, so, yes, I am comfortable with this policy. I love the uniforms at NetJets, as well. They are truly elegant."

3. Tell me about yourself.
What You Need to Know
This is a typical introductory interview question designed to get you to relax, open up, be yourself, and put your best foot forward. An interviewer is looking for their ideal candidate, so they have a vested interest in getting to know you and sizing up your fit for the company. So when presenting yourself, try to showcase how you match what they are looking for. As they advertise, their "service team members are proud NetJets ambassadors and passionate relationship builders." So this is your opportunity to show how passionate you are about your career while showcasing your relationship-building skills.
Written by Kevin Downey on July 20th, 2023
1st Answer Example
"My father was a Navel pilot, and my father and mother were both licensed pilots and had a twin-engine Cessna, which we used to travel and vacation quite often. I felt very at home when traveling and in the sky as well. So, naturally, I pursued this profession and am quite happy. I feel more at home in smaller aircraft and pride myself on my superior service skills, so pursuing a position with NetJets felt like the obvious choice for me."
Written by Kevin Downey on July 20th, 2023
2nd Answer Example
"Both my parents were in the airline industry. So I grew up in a crew culture. So as soon as I was out of high school, I landed a position with Alaska Airlines. I have won several awards and was promoted ahead of my peers. I love working for the airline, but I feel I have taken my career as far as I can with them. Of course, there is nothing wrong with continuing to cruise along with this great airline; however, the only better choice would be stepping up the game of m career and pursuing a position with NetJets. So here I am."

5. Which of our locations would you prefer to work?
What You Need to Know
As they explain online, after gaining some seniority, you could be rewarded with a preferred schedule and crew base. "No two days are the same. NetJets flight attendants may fly virtually anywhere based on our owners' travel needs. NetJets flight attendants have many options in crew bases and scheduling. Flight attendants can live in various locations around the U.S. Based on seniority, they can also choose from several types of work schedules. Choose from more than 200 bases across the U.S. to call home and enjoy unique-to-NetJets benefits that enhance your time in the sky and on the ground." So explore their locations and all the other unique benefits NetJets offers their employees. Come armed with questions regarding what kind of tenure is required before receiving such preferential treatment.
Written by Kevin Downey on July 19th, 2023
Experienced Example
"Well, I am curious to hear what kind of seniority is required before being awarded a crew base of choice. I suppose, initially, I would say I would gladly accept any crew base if it increased my likelihood of proving myself a team player and being awarded the position. Once reaching the seniority required to be awarded preference, I suppose I would have a better idea of what that would look like. For example, if there was an owner who I preferred working with, who frequented a destination I enjoyed traveling to, then I suppose I might choose that as a home base."

Career Goals
6. If you could start your career over again, what direction would you take?
What You Need to Know
A hiring manager can tell a lot about your personality by learning about your career interests. As Alan Bobo, EVP, Chief Operating Officer of NetJets, once said, "Because NetJets is the pinnacle of most aviators' careers, we can confidently say that we hire only the most experienced crew members in the industry." So, when answering this question, try not to volunteer an alternative career to the one you've chosen. Doing so could be interpreted as having a potential for burning out on the job or career dissatisfaction. Instead, consider a different route you may have taken to accomplish your career goals more expeditiously. For example, you could discuss choosing a different company or starting position whose offerings may have been more in line with your goals or undertaking additional education when starting your career. This will help you elaborate on why NetJets is your ultimate career goal and why now is the right time to land with NetJets.
Written by Kevin Downey on July 19th, 2023
1st Answer Example
"I certainly do not regret the direction I have taken my career; however, if I could start over, I would have pursued my Master's degree to further expedite my career so I could have been sitting here a few years sooner. Instead, I landed a job that felt like a great career move at the time but didn't offer the career growth I'd hoped for. But I pushed myself and advanced beyond my peers. I now enjoy coaching and leading others so they can further their goals."
Written by Kevin Downey on July 19th, 2023
2nd Answer Example
"I would take the same direction! I love what I do and wouldn't change a thing. This industry brings a lot of excitement and fulfillment to my life."

"I once worked at a locally owned shop where the owner was very demanding. When the owner would walk into the store, employees would announce over their headset system that the owner was in the building so that everyone could be prepared for his entrance into their department. The owner had great intentions; however, his people skills were a little rough. I could see that he meant well, and I recognized that he wanted to do a lot of good things. When we interacted, I always took his feedback with the understanding that he didn't mean things as harshly as he might say them."
