"I think one thing people notice about me rather quickly is that I am light-hearted and easy to get along with. Life, in general, has enough tensions. I like to have a positive attitude and be the type of person others feel they can easily approach."

When working with large groups of people, there will be a diversity of personalities and beliefs. This question allows the interviewer to get to know you. Remember, you want them to know your good qualities, but don't try to 'over-sell' yourself.

If you were the person responsible for hiring at Medpace, what characteristics would you look for in a candidate, and do you feel you possess those traits?

"I believe that compassion, honesty, and integrity are important no matter what job title a person holds. I have found that being honest with people creates an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect. Those qualities, I feel, are essential when building rapport with patients and coworkers. In the field of research, I feel we have to hold one another to a high standard of accountability. We are responsible for reporting vital information to sponsors/companies and caring for the candidates involved in our research. Also, yes, I do believe I possess these qualities. I strive very hard to ensure that I don't ask something of others I am unwilling to give in return."

There is more than one reason for asking this question. First, the interviewer wants to know what qualities you think are essential to perform this job. Second, and most importantly, your answer will tell the interviewer if you hold yourself to the same standard as others. If you want to see specific characteristics in your peers, you should be able to tell the interviewer with confidence that you possess those traits, as well. This question is one that interviewers often use to distinguish sincerity on the part of the candidate.

Taking pride in one's work is very important in my opinion, it leads to confidence and good work ethics. I have my own system of keeping things on track and if possible I usually try to get things done ahead of time to give myself ample opportunities to review my work before submission."

What would your answer be if a trial participant asks you to explain what a placebo is and why it may be used?

"I would explain to the participant that a placebo is an inactive pill, liquid, or powder with no treatment value. I will further explain that in a placebo-controlled trial, some portion of the participants will receive a placebo instead of an active drug or experimental treatment and that this is done to assess the experimental treatment's effectiveness and safety versus no treatment at all."

Understanding terminology is crucial, especially when dealing with medical issues/patients. This is a question the interviewer will use to test your knowledge and ability to express that knowledge to someone else in a manner they can understand.

Your answer to this question can be brief and concise. Describe how you would tell a participant what a placebo is in easy-to-understand terminology.

"I will tell the participant that a placebo is a liquid, powder, or pill that has no treatment value and is used in clinical trials to help determine the difference between the active drug or experiment compared to no treatment at all."

"Placebo is a pill, liquid, or device that does not have any effect or treatment on a certain disease which is given to a group of participants in the study and then reviewed against the group of people getting the study treatment."

While Medpace likes to employ people who have plans to work for us long-term, it is understandable that sometimes plans change. Do you anticipate significant changes in your life within the next 3-5 years?

"I recently became engaged. Although we have not set a date yet, we have agreed to wait twelve months before the marriage. My fiance' just passed the Bar exam here and has been offered an opportunity to join an existing law firm. We plan to stay where we are and build a career, not just work a job. In 3-5 years, my goal is to be working for Medpace in a leadership position."

One of the good things about working for a CRO like Medpace, Inc. is that there are usually several different projects for different sponsors being conducted simultaneously. Knowing what goals you have and any changes you anticipate in your life will allow the interviewer to evaluate two things: 1. What positions are available that won't disrupt your plans, and 2. If you are interested in having a long-term relationship within the company. With a CRO, if you anticipate a move or other significant change, you may still be offered employment within a project that fits your time frame. Either way, be honest with the interviewer. This will be beneficial to both you and Medpace, Inc.

If you do not anticipate changes in the next 3-5 years, let the interviewer know that you do not foresee changes and where you see yourself with Medpace. If you do anticipate changes, describe what those changes entail.

"My spouse is in the military, and although I would like to say with certainty that I will be living in the same place three years from now, there is no guarantee. I am glad you asked this question because I wanted to discuss any opportunities within Medpace where I could be useful but may not be obligated for several years until we know if he can stay in one place."

What is a 'controlled' clinical trial?

"In a controlled trial, one group of patients will be given an experimental drug or treatment, while a second group is given either a standard treatment for the illness or a placebo. It helps us to determine the differences in patients' response to the trial drug compared to a standard or no treatment."

There are different types of clinical trials. Working in a research company that conducts trials, it is essential to know and understand the differences. Share your knowledge with the interviewer.

Controlled Clinical Trials can be conducted in several ways: blinded, unblinded, registry, and controlled. Controlled Clinical Trials have two groups of subjects, one that receives the study treatment and another one that receives the standard treatment or placebo. Focus on providing your definition of a controlled clinical trial.

"A controlled clinical trial occurs when one group of patients is given a placebo or a commonly used treatment, and another group is given the experimental treatment/drug. In this study, the trial workers know which patients received the experimental drug and those who did not."

Contract Research Organizations such as Medpace employ people from many different backgrounds with various skills. Have you ever worked with diverse groups of people?

"The largest diverse group I worked with was probably during my clinical rotation at University Medical Center. I was allowed to meet people from different cultures, religions, and professional backgrounds. It gave me an eye-opening experience of how many wonderful people there are!"

Diversity among peers and clients should be expected when working for a CRO. Some people are intimidated when learning about new cultures and beliefs, but in the healthcare industry, it is crucial to provide adequate care. The interviewer wants to know that you are open to meeting and learning about new people and becoming an integral part of the team. Be positive with your response.

If you have not worked with diverse people, respond honestly. Then let the interviewer know you embrace everyone regardless of background and look forward to working in a diverse work environment with Medpace Inc.

"A 'double-blind' trial is a clinical trial in which neither patients nor the study staff knows which participants are receiving the experimental drug and which are receiving a placebo or standard treatment."

Understanding the differences between the different types of clinical trials is essential when working in research. Any time you can answer an interviewer's question with confidence and correct knowledge, you increase your chances of being offered employment.

"Yes, I do understand 'double-blind' trials. Have you ever participated in efforts to secure funding for clinical research?

"I have a little experience in grant writing. I previously worked with someone who did grant writing for a long-term care facility. I tried to learn as much as possible from her and would love the opportunity to learn more."

The interviewer wants to see if you have experience securing funding for clinical research as it may be part of the job role or can benefit Medpace if hired. If you have participated in obtaining funding, describe what you did and the outcome. If you do not have this experience, explain how you would love to learn how to secure funding for trials.

Clinical trials can be sponsored or funded by various organizations, including physicians, medical institutions, foundations, voluntary groups, and pharmaceutical companies. Additionally, government agencies such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Department of Defense (DOD), Human Health and Services (HHS), and the Department of Veteran's Affairs (VA) support some clinical trials. If you have experience in grant writing or using other experience to secure funding, this could be a plus. Share any knowledge or experience you have.

"Unfortunately, the finance side of trials has never been where I've had an opportunity to work. I understand that funding comes from various places, and I am not opposed to learning how to secure funding and offer assistance in any way I can."

Do you know what pharmacokinetic studies are?

"Yes, I am familiar with pharmacokinetic studies. We always called them 'clinical pharmacology studies.' These trials test the administration methods for a drug/treatment, its frequency, and safety."

Identifying different areas of study within clinical research is essential for researchers. When an interviewer asks a question like, 'do you know....,' or 'are you familiar...,' share the knowledge you have, but be careful not to try to embellish your knowledge with facts you are unsure of.

Pharmacokinetic studies are also called 'clinical pharmacology studies.' These trials test the administration methods for a drug/treatment, its frequency, and safety. Tell the interviewer what you know about pharmacokinetic studies.

"Yes, I know about pharmacokinetic studies. They are sometimes referred to as clinical pharmacology studies. They usually involve between 20-80 healthy participants and are designed to test methods of administering the treatment (e.g. by mouth, injection, etc.) and how often, as well as the safety of the treatment."

"Pharmacokinetic studies are focused on administration, safety, and frequency of the treatment like oral, injections, once a day, twice a day, and safety."

Concerning salary, Medpace tries to be fair to all employees. However, compensation is often commensurate with experience. What are your thoughts regarding someone working the same job as you being paid a higher rate due to experience?

"I understand that years of experience are often rewarded with higher earnings. I feel, given a chance to demonstrate my knowledge and skills, you will find that I am capable of doing the job as well as some of the more experienced employees. I will not turn down an offer of employment because of a difference in pay based on my present experience."

Most employers offer higher salary incentives to get more seasoned employees. This is not meant to devalue a person's knowledge or experience but rather to pay for more experience. It is important to note that the interviewer is not saying you will make less than someone with more experience. Often, this question is to see how you respond and how badly you want a position. If an employee is willing to put in the work and earn the pay increase, employers often see them as someone worth investing in.

The interviewer wants your opinion on coworkers receiving a higher salary based on experience. Now is the time to share your thoughts without discussing the compensation you would receive. However, if the interviewer asks you about your salary requirements, you should be prepared to let them know what salary range you would like to receive.

"While I have no doubt that my education and skills are comparable to those of employees at Medpace in the same position, I understand and appreciate that Medpace likes to acknowledge and reward employees for their years of experience. With that in mind, I am willing to accept a position at a lower beginning rate and prove myself worthy of a higher rate later."

"I am fine with that. I do not see it as one to one. One job, same job title does not give the same amount of money. In my first manager job, I was probably was least paid than other managers on the same level due to experience, education, etc. I do not expect to go down in salary but I am not setting unreasonable demands."

What are your thoughts regarding people who become participants in a clinical trial but leave before the trial ends?

"Without knowing why a participant chooses to leave a trial, it would be difficult for me to say exactly how I feel about their exiting the trial. Some people become ill or cannot take the effects of the treatment and are forced to leave while others change their minds."

Although this could be mistaken as a trick question, it is not. However, when being asked a question like this, it is essential to remember to withhold judgment. Stating your thoughts is fine, as long as you think them through.

Even if you disagree with participants leaving a clinical trial before it ends, you do not know the circumstances behind their leaving. Focus on being positive in your response while not speaking poorly of anyone.

"I imagine that people who have worked with clinical trials longer than me may be a bit more opinionated concerning the matter. I think each person should weigh the risks and benefits before agreeing to a trial. However, it is understandable that some circumstances cannot be predicted."

"I do not have any opinions when it comes to participants leaving a trial. Individuals may leave due to personal reasons, ethical perspectives, or the worsening of illness, so who am I to judge this?"

Can you think of a time you had a disagreement with a boss or coworker, and if so, how was it resolved?

"I believe if we think about it, each of us could remember at least one disagreement with a boss or coworker. Although I consider myself pretty easygoing, I am also very passionate about my patients and their care. I have been aware of disagreements between other coworkers, but I like to think of myself as more of a peacekeeper. I feel like professional people should be able to discuss things logically and come to a satisfactory agreement for everyone involved."

Any time you work with someone, there is a chance of having a disagreement about something at one time or another. The interviewer knows this. It's human nature for people to have their own opinions. What is important to the interviewer in this question is whether or not you are willing to compromise and work through difficult situations with your coworkers or supervisor. Being unwilling to compromise or find alternative solutions to a dispute can affect everyone on the team, even if it is indirectly. Sharing a personal experience is OK, but do not embellish it to 'be the hero.'

Think about that one person at work who is seen as hard to please. Perhaps you have a boss or coworker who tries to intimidate others. Talk to the interviewer about what made this person challenging and their relationship with you. Avoid speaking poorly of anyone, and focus on ending your response on a positive note.

"I think the most common disagreement between myself and others has involved our personal feelings about how healthcare should be carried out. However, I have learned, as have most of the people I have worked with, that while our opinions are important, plans of care are designated by strict guidelines and with the input of everyone on the care team and the patient. Learning to respect those guidelines and patient wishes usually resolves issues."

"I had an issue with a COL in my current company where I felt she did not want me to succeed and was after me as a CRA. I had a meeting with her to resolve it and to figure out what was the issue and I found out that while I thought I was asking questions due to I wanted to learn and understand processes she thought I was questioning her ability to be a COL. I found out that I need to be very precise when I ask questions and inform that it is due to my eagerness to learn and not to show that the COL is not able to do their job."

What do you think your best and worst qualities are?

"I would have to say that one of the things I'd like to improve about myself and that most people recognize about me is I always want to be the 'fixer.' While I know this is not always a negative quality, I have often let the fact that I couldn't fix a certain situation be something that troubled me. On a lighter note, I believe I have a positive, outgoing personality. I enjoy getting to know others and like to make them feel comfortable."

The interviewer wants to hear that you are self-aware and have identified your strengths and weaknesses. When describing your best qualities, the interviewer will identify your strong points and see if you will be a good fit for the Medpace team. When you describe your worst qualities, do not spend a lot of time explaining what they are. It is best to spend more time describing your actions to improve the bad qualities.

No one wants to share anything negative about themselves. However, honest people will admit they have both good and bad characteristics. The important thing is recognizing the things that need improvement and being willing to address them. Share some things about your personal qualities with the interviewer and remember, when sharing any quality that could be improved, tell how you are working to make a change.

"My best quality, I believe, is that I am willing to work on any project I am asked to take on. My worst quality is that I am willing to take on too many projects at once. I've had to learn to pace myself and prioritize things that need to be done so that I am not overwhelmed and that my work quality does not suffer because I am too busy."

Do you demonstrate leadership qualities even when you are not in a leadership role?

"Yes, I do. It's so important always to be leading by example, and I never know who is watching. That applies to stepping foot in the unit or behaving on social media when tied to the healthcare industry. No matter the situation or where I find myself, I always act accordingly to be a real leader."

This question challenges you to think about how you act as a leader in your daily life. Even if you're not leading a team, you can still demonstrate the qualities of a leader! The interviewer wants to hear that you have the leadership qualities they seek in a researcher.

You can be a motivator and a confident communicator in any situation at work or school! Give an example of how you coached a coworker who had difficulty preparing for a big presentation. Maybe you gave them confidence in their strengths by encouraging them, or perhaps you offered helpful hints. Or, you might have tutored a classmate who was having difficulty in a particular subject. Focus on providing an example that shows you act as a leader even when not in a leadership role.

"I feel I'm always leading by example, with or without managerial authority. I always try to come in a bit early and stay late, pitching in and going the extra mile whenever possible. I feel this makes me a good teammate and human, setting me up for a strong career trajectory. When the opportunity for a true leadership role presents itself, I have positioned myself to be top of mind for the promotion."

How did you hear about this position?

"I found out about the position by searching your website. I knew I wanted to work for Medpace after my professor recommended your company, so I did a search and saw there was an opening in my field."

Companies invest a lot of money in advertising their job openings. The interviewer wants to hear what methods are effective and which are not. They also want to hear if an employee of Medpace referred you. Describe how you heard about the position, and be sure to give the name of the employee or recruiter who referred you if applicable. Some companies offer their employees a referral fee when referring a candidate, while others hire recruiters to seek out qualified candidates.

The interviewer wants to briefly hear how you heard about the position. Be concise in your response, describing the recruiter's name, the website where Medpace posted the job, Medpace's website, or an employee referral.

"I heard about this position from a recruiter named Jamie Hutchins. She contacted me on LinkedIn and suggested I apply with your agency due to my experience in the industry."

Tell me about your education.

"I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Research from Arizona State University three years ago. I then became a Certified Clinical Research Assistant through the Society of Clinical Research Associates. I have agreed to a code of ethics and passed their exam. I have maintained my certification by completing the necessary continuing education units and am in good standing as a Clinical Research Assistant."

The interviewer asks this question to determine if you have the education needed to perform your job as a researcher. No research experience is required as Medpace provides a comprehensive training program unmatched by other CROs. However, they want to hear about your post-secondary education to see if you are qualified to work for Medpace.

Focus on describing your education as it relates to the position. Most Medpace research jobs require a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a health or life-science-related field and work experience to apply for the position. You most likely have the necessary education and credentials or would not be invited to an interview. Assure the interviewer you have the required qualifications for the position.

"I am a Registered Nurse and obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing five years ago from Duke University. I have worked as a nurse for the past five years and complete the required continuing education hours each year. I am looking into Master's programs right now as I want to continue my education and seek an administrative position within Medpace in the next few years."

Why do you want to work for Medpace?

"I want to work for Medpace because your vision and values align with mine. I want to work for a company whose mission is to accelerate the global development of safe and effective medical therapeutics. I could not agree more! I also want to prepare for a leadership position and am excited you offer and encourage professional growth to everyone you employ."

The interviewer wants to hear that you have researched their agency. When responding to this question, highlight unique aspects of their company that stand out from others. You may want to work for their agency because of their stellar reputation, their opportunity for professional growth and advancement, or because of their high number of clinical trials.

Instead of giving a generic answer to this question, focus on showing the interviewer that you have thoroughly researched their agency. For example, if you say that you want to work for their company because they provide clinical trials, that could apply to many other agencies. Instead, say that you want to work for their agency because they have a reputation for performing more clinical trials than other similarly sized agencies.

"I want to work for Medpace because you are a patient-focused agency that believes in offering exceptional customer service as your top priority. I also believe in putting my patients first and am excited to see that you cover many therapeutic specialties. With your stellar reputation and clinical trial success rate, I cannot think of another agency I would rather work with."

"Thank you for asking. Yes, I do have a few questions. What is top of mind when it comes to filling this role? Also, what types of career growth opportunities would follow this position? And lastly, do you have internal candidates also interviewing for this position?"

The interviewer wants to make sure that all of your questions about the company or job role are answered during the interview. It is best to ask at least a question or two, showing the interviewer your eagerness to learn all you can. Of course, you want to review the job announcement and research the company beforehand so you are not asking questions that could be found during your research.

Focus on asking questions specific to the role you are interviewing for or the company culture and work environment. Examples of good questions are asking the interviewer how you performed in the interview or if you need to clarify anything, asking what the interviewer likes most about working for Medpace, or if they have any hesitancy about hiring you. To make yourself stand out, thank the interviewer at the beginning of your response for letting you ask questions. They will think that it is respectful and it shows you have good manners.

"Yes, I do have a few questions. Thank you for asking. Could you please describe the company culture? Also, do you have any hesitancy in offering me the position?"

CROs work with multiple clients nationally and internationally, so employees are often expected to juggle time zones and adhere to the sponsor's tight deadlines. What are some things you do to help manage your time efficiently?

"I have worked with clients internationally and understand the importance of accurate scheduling. Before beginning any new project, I always like to verify the differences in time zones, what specific duties I will be expected to carry out, and the deadline for each. I then create a schedule on my computer with daily reminders that I check each morning and ensure I am on schedule."

Because CROs are contracted to work for other companies, details such as time zone differences can play a significant role in scheduling. The interviewer wants to know that you can juggle multiple tasks within an allotted time frame. Share some ways you keep yourself organized during a work day.

There are many tools you can use to manage your time. You may use time-management software, write in a day planner, set alerts on your phone, or use a calendar app. Describe what you to do to manage your work day efficiently.

"I like to stay on track with projects. I am a visual learner, and because of that, I make a schedule on paper and keep it in a place that is visible (desktop/bulletin board, etc.). As I complete a task, I mark it off and move to the next."

"I am proactive and efficient. I prefer to focus on one thing at a time whenever possible. I have trackers and practice MOOC learning."

Are you familiar with what 'expanded access' means?

"It is my understanding that 'expanded access' is granted, under certain circumstances, to patients who do not qualify to participate in a clinical trial of a regulatory drug. The drug used in expanded access cannot expose patients to unreasonable risks given the severity of the disease to be treated and the patient must not have any other satisfactory therapeutic options."

Expanded access is the term used to describe how manufacturers make new drugs that are being investigated available, under certain circumstances, to treat a patient(s) with a serious disease or condition who cannot participate in a controlled clinical trial. If you have experience working with patients who have been given expanded access, share some details as appropriate. If you don't have personal experience, share your knowledge.

As with any interview question, you want to be honest in your response. If you are familiar with the term, explain what it means. If you are unfamiliar with expanded access, tell the interviewer you do not know the term, but you will research it after your interview.

"I have some knowledge about 'expanded access,' although I have not worked directly with patients who have been given expanded access. The manufacturer must be willing to make the drug available for expanded access use. The primary intent of expanded access is to provide treatment for a patient's disease or condition, rather than to collect data about the study drug."

Suppose a patient wants to participate in a clinical trial but wants the physician conducting the experiment to provide all of his care during the time the trial is being conducted. What would be the most appropriate advice?

"I understand that many patients prefer not to see multiple physicians. However, it is important for patients participating in clinical trials to be educated about the role of the staff conducting the trial. For example, the medication or therapy that is used for a clinical trial is usually focused on a specific illness/disease. It is important for patients to follow up and have continued care with their primary physician. Additionally, providers who are conducting clinical trials find it beneficial to have communication with the primary physician so that we can work together for the best outcome for the patient."

Most clinical trials provide short-term treatments for a designated illness or condition but do not provide extended or complete primary health care. In addition, by having the health care provider work with the research team, the participant can ensure that other medications or treatments will not conflict with the protocol. The interviewer is not asking for 'facts,' but how you would relate directly with a patient making this request.

The interviewer wants to see how knowledgeable you are in this field and gain insight into your communications skills. Give a brief answer on how you would advise this patient.

"I have always been taught that patients are advised to continue regular follow-ups and care for non-trial related medical issues with their primary care provider. Also, the research teams I have been a part of have always made it a priority to collaborate with the primary physician. First of all, it is a professional courtesy. Further, the open line of communication allows the healthcare team and patient to work together more effectively."

"By entering a trial the PI is responsible to review SAE/AE, overall patient status, follow-up on concomitant medication, and general well-being of the patient, but the PI is not necessarily responsible for the treatment of other illnesses hence the patient will still be in contact with other physicians."

Medpace is supportive of our employee's continuing education efforts. Have you ever thought of going back to school?

"I am very supportive of people who want to continue their education. I feel like I have come to a place in my career where I am happy with where I am. Notwithstanding, if Medpace, Inc. has courses or certifications that are encouraged for employees to take, I would definitely be willing. I don't see myself returning to school for 3 or 4 years."

While Medpace, Inc. may be supportive of an employee who chooses to continue their education, that is not to say that you are required to say you want to return to school. This is simply one of those 'get to know you' questions. Share your thoughts with the interviewer.

If you have thought about returning to school, describe your plans while assuring the interviewer that doing so will not interfere with your job at Medpace. If you do not have plans to pursue higher education, explain how returning to school is not in your plans at the moment.

"I believe that participants in clinical trials play a key role in drug development and discovery. Clinical trials contribute to knowledge and progress in treating and preventing diseases. Most importantly, participants can help others by contributing to medical knowledge and improving public health."

"I was a patient in the HPV trials back in 2012-2015 in Denmark. Even though it was a Phase 2 study, we did not know if there would be side effects. I am healthy, and I think that we all need to help out to find new and better treatments. A clinical trial may be the only way to find a treatment to effectively help cancer patients achieve a better quality of life."

What would you tell a patient who is asking some of the things they should expect while participating in a clinical trial?

"I believe in making sure that patients are educated regarding any time of care they will receive. For patients participating in trials, it is important to assure them that participants work with a research or clinical trial team, including doctors, nurses, social workers, and other health care professionals. Before the trial, the research team will check the participant's health and review any special instructions for trial participation. As the trial begins and throughout its duration, the research team will administer treatment and monitor the participant regularly to determine its effectiveness and side effects."

Patients must be well informed before beginning any treatment, whether routine care by a physician or participation in a clinical trial. The interviewer wants to know that you understand the patient's expectations of care and that you are comfortable with sharing that with the patient.

The interviewer wants to see that you have the communication skills and knowledge to speak comfortably to patients. Describe exactly what you would tell a patient before participating in a clinical trial.

"The most important thing is ensuring patients are aware of the trial's objective. "One of my favorite pastimes is writing. After a busy day at work, I like to journal or write articles for a blog that I author. Both of these forms of writing allow me to release any feelings of frustration I may experience, especially after a stressful day or a difficult situation at work. The writings in my journal are private and my way of 'letting it all out.' On the other hand, the blog articles are my way of using creative writing to share stories with my followers."

"Yes, I understand the importance of a 'control/control group' in trials. I assisted with documentation for a clinical trial when I worked at XYZ. Part of my responsibilities included monitoring the differences in vital signs of the patients who were given a placebo compared to those who were taking the trial drug."

Control is the standard by which experimental observations are evaluated. In many clinical trials, one group of patients will be given an experimental drug or treatment. In contrast, the control group is given either a standard treatment for the illness or a placebo. If you have worked with clinical trials/observations, you will clearly understand what the 'control' or 'control group' is. If you have not, say what you do know. At the end of the day, what makes you feel like you have done a good job or have been successful?

"At the end of the day, I am happy knowing I have participated in a job or study that made a difference for someone. For instance, monitoring a clinical trial for a new medication that had great results for the participants. That makes me feel fulfilled."

Everyone wants to have a sense of fulfillment or accomplishment. The interviewer wants to know what makes you have that feeling. As researchers, we don't always get the results we are hoping for. I have to remind myself that is why we do research. We search, and then we research."

"We all know that competing deadlines is a part of the job and I know that when I have a huge amount of workload I get tired and irritated if it is over a longer period. To proactively work against stress I run and take small breaks during the day. Go for a walk, do yoga to clear my mind, and get back to work in a more peaceful state."

"Research is such an exciting industry. If I had a choice, I would love to work on any project that has to do with cancer research. Cancer is a dreadful diagnosis, and I would love to have some part in helping to find better ways to treat and hopefully cure it."
